BOOK REVIEWS BY HOW TO WRITE FOR SUCCESS GROUP

Name of Book: Second To None

Author: Ju Ephraime.

Country USA

My Rating: 5 Stars.

MY REVIEW:

This is not the first book I have read by talented and award-winning author Ju Ephraime. She never ceases to amaze me with her writing skills.
I read this book in one day, not because I had the time, but because it was so interesting. I could not put it down for a second.
The story of Courtney and Sydney, twin sisters, who were complete opposites, was one filled with rivalry from birth, right up to Courtney’s wedding day.
Towards the end, there is a frightening twist, which I leave for readers to discover.
This a well written, intriguing, and engaging tale.
The pace was lively throughout the book and the characters were well formed.
I recommend it to all.

Name of Author: Mary L Schmidt

Country: USA

Book: When Angels Fly

Rating: Five Stars.

MY REVIEW:

When I met this beautiful author at the Readers Favorite Book Awards 2018 in Miami, I could not imagine that the book she wrote and for which she won an award, contained so much heartbreak and suffering.
The author wrote this book under pen names S. Jackson and A. Raymond.
She suffered abuse from her mother at a young age and her only wish as any other young woman was to have a loving husband and beautiful children.
Sad to say, her husband turned out to be not the man she dreamed of and the cycle of abuse continued.
Her first born son died in childbirth and that broke her heart.
She was blessed with two more sons but the youngest suffered from a fatal disease, Cancer.
It was heart-wrenching to read that he died of complete organ failure due to chemotherapy.
The unimaginable trials and suffering the author faced were many and brought tears to my eyes throughout the book.
Her strong faith and love for her sons helped her to survive her ordeals.
Her story has powerful lessons for all women.
I recommend this book to both men and women.

What Reviewers are saying about Travel Memoirs with Pictures: Exploring the world

BOOK DESCRIPTION:

Travel Memoirs with Pictures: Exploring the World is a book filled with reflections of the author's travels around the world.
She relates the family adventures and treats readers to a pictorial travel book of priceless memories.
She describes places visited and the wonderful times she and her family had in their tourist trips, not only in words but with an amazing photo collection.
The book is great to read while on a vacation or for some travel inspiration.

A great and inspirational book!

Brenda Mohammed is an award-winning author who writes in many genres. While many people travel, few of us are capable of sharing our experience in a meaningful and relevant way with strangers. This author does a superb job.

Her book is very personal and one can feel as if a friend were relating her travel impressions and giving us her tips. Paradoxically, this personal and openly subjective touch makes the tips about restaurants and other commercial places for tourists sound less biased than a professional guidebook where it is often difficult to distinguish an honest review from a paid ad. In this book, we can read real first-hand accounts that are very precious to any explorers and travelers.

This book can inspire us when we plan our next vacation, it can also make us reflect on our own experience and realize what we might have missed when we visited a particular place, but it can also take us to places we do not have time or money to visit anytime soon. It’s also interesting to read a short entry about places that we consider our home since we cannot always see what makes them special unless we step away and look at them from a distance through a tourist’s eyes.

I found it exciting to read about places I visited and lived since the author has a keen eye and often notices thinks I don’t. But her chapter on Trinidad and Tobago, a place I have not been to, was probably the most interesting one to me. The author was born there and seems to know it very well. The ghost stories about the village of Lopinot make me want to visit and explore the place.

Enjoyable Memoirs of Author's Travels

An informative and enjoyable book to read. The author writes of her world travels with her family. She shares her experiences with the reader.
You'll read of the various sites to see in each location, the restaurants with delicious foods, and which restaurants are more reasonable in cost and which more expensive. She writes of the various ways to travel and of the climate of the location. You read her travels to different locations in the world:
Paris, Germany, Amsterdam (Holland), New York (USA), Los Angeles, California(USA), Las Vegas, Nevada (USA), London (United Kingdom), Toronto (Canada), Colorado (USA), New Orleans (USA), Italy, Spain, Miami (USA), Orlando (USA), Caribbean Vacations, Anguilla, Puerto Rico, Caracas, Barbados, Cruise to the Bahamas, Cartegena, Cruise to Cozumel (Mexico), Trinidad and Tobago.
Nearing the end of her book she ends with a delightful poem of her travels. This was a nice touch!

Loved this travel memoir!
This is a great travel memoir. The author has been so many amazing places! I loved her descriptions of Spain and Italy – two of my favorite destinations. She also included some terrific pictures. A 5-star travel memoir!

This is a family travelogue – a day by day recounting of flights, hotel stays, restaurants, shopping and tourist sites that the author and her extended family have experienced over the years. And they’ve been to a lot of places, including Italy, Spain, various locations in the US and the Caribbean Islands, among others. There are many down to earth descriptions of what it’s like to travel, even including getting sick or getting overheated. There are cautionary tales about such things as wearing comfortable shoes while walking in Venice because of the uneven cobblestone streets and not expecting an elevator to take you back down the mountain and possibly damaging your knees going down 296 steps. One especially interesting anecdote involved eating at a restaurant in Venice, thinking they were getting a nice fish meal for only 6 Euro each when it turned out that price was PER GRAM of fish. Meaning the family ended up paying a small fortune for seven meals. And there’s the embarrassing story about how the fire alarm went off in a Miami hotel, everyone dashing down the stairs to the parking lot, only to discover it was a false alarm. And to discover belatedly that the author was wearing a sheer nightgown. Another cautionary tale, perhaps. The author also includes family photos from most of their many vacations.

Travel Memoirs With Pictures is the second travelogue I have read this year, and just like the other book, readers will find themselves treated to a pictorial story as they go along. Some books like these tend to be 'photo-heavy' and rather redundant with the actual test.

In other words, pretty pictures alone do not make a great book. So it's with pleasure that this book gives us insight into many countries.

I paid particular regard to places I had been to before in this book, for example, places like Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Italy, France (because I have been to these places before) and others.

Of the places I haven't yet been to, I would dearly love to go to Cartegena (in fact, thank you, Author, for putting this idea in my head!), but readers will have their own choices as they read the book.

Of course, the author has been to England and to my country's capital, London. As a national I must say that whilst London is definitely worth visiting, there are many gems in England that people don't know about. Aside from writing, I do love to get out there and see what England....10 minutes drive in any direction from where I live, has to offer.

Travel Memoirs With Pictures offers readers a personal glance into one tourist's view of many different places, and the different ways one can travel to them.

Recommended for anyone who has the travel bug!

This is a great way to learn about a real holiday/place experience.
Brenda Mohammed has such a personable way of describing her experiences from everything from restaurants, flights and hotels.
I enjoyed this very much and like all of her books, her natural style fully engaged me.
Very worthwhile and enjoyable.

A true travel memoir, which is filled with wonderful family memories anyone can appreciate. A fan of travel, the author takes us along on each trip as if we were right there with her. Great to read while on a vacation or when you just want to feel like you're on vacation.

I Am Cancer Free by Mrs. Brenda C. Mohammed is the poignant memoir of the author's personal battle with cancer. Her faith in God and proving that ovarian cancer need not be a death sentence are what make this memoir a heartrending read. The author's 'never say die' attitude, the decision not to give up in life, and finally being cancer-free will encourage everyone who has been diagnosed with the disease or who has suffered from cancer. The memoir recounts from the time of diagnosis the experiences the author went through during the treatment, her emotions, fears, finances, until the successful treatment of the disease. It is a courageous story of survival, faith, and strength.
The author chronicles every step of her journey methodically, without leaving anything out, making the narration very personal, honest, and palpable to readers. The presence of God in everyone's life, a positive attitude, and the power of prayers run through the memoir. The author reiterates the fact that faith in God removes all obstacles in life. The conversational style of writing connects well with readers, making it easy for them to understand her journey. The author has also shared the poems she wrote during that phase in her life, where she again speaks about her story, faith in the Lord, and a Higher Power. For all those who are suffering from cancer and are battling the disease, this book is a must-read as it will give them hope, strength, and courage to fight the disease.

2.This was a touching and heartfelt account of the author's personal journey dealing with what could only be a terrifying ordeal.
Thanks to her faith in God and ability and willingness to travel out of the country for medical care, she won the fight and is here today to inspire us all

3.“I am Cancer Free “ is Brenda Mohammed’s personal story. She describes her battle with cancer including the cancer diagnosis, search for doctors, chemotherapies, tests, surgeries, costs, travels back and forth from Trinidad to Miami, and the moment she is declared by the doctor to be cancer-free.But it’s more than that. It’s a testament to Brenda Mohammed’s will, her faith in God, and the love and support of her families and friends.

4. A warm memoir told in a poignant, heartbreaking way by Ms. Mohammed.
It is inspirational, informative and honest as this story tells of the love of a family and the strength of the patient coming together to fight against the most awful disease ever to strike mankind.

5. This true story should be read by every person who has been diagnosed with or who has ever suffered from cancer. Their loved ones will also benefit from reading this autobiographical account.
During all the upheavals, the author never lost her faith in God. Her undaunting faith upheld her and comforted her during this dark period of her life. Her story clearly demonstrates that faith in God surmounts all obstacles.

5.What I will say is that everyone should read this book. We are all touched by this horrible and untimely disease, and reading the author's story helped me understand a little more how my father might be feeling. Whilst I know he will never be cancer free - I wanted to understand more.
It's emotional, heartfelt, honest and transparent. The author has told the story with true authenticity.

6.I was truly mesmerised throughout this true story, memoir - Brenda is an inspiration with her strength and her unfailing belief in God. The story takes you through her experience with Cancer, her decision to never give up and fight, and her pursuit of the right treatment for her - even if it meant going to another country.

7.Truly remarkable! The author shares her battle to beat ovarian cancer. She takes readers on quite a journey from life before diagnosis, diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. She also provides enlightening insight on staying strong and the power of prayer and a positive attitude.
Brenda Mohammed - what a journey – and an inspiration. An excellent memoir.

8.A wonderful memoir about a woman who never lost her faith in God even when tested by cancer. A touching story about how family and friends can make a tough journey more bearable just being there in support of their loved one. Great job Brenda.

9.A heartfelt account of Brenda's personal experience dealing with cancer. She details when she was first diagnosed, her treatment, her experiences right through to her wonderful news that she is now cancer-free. Her book is easy to read and gives great insight & advice on what family & friends can do to help loved ones going through cancer treatment. Definitely worth reading!

10.“I am Cancer Free “ is Brenda Mohammed’s personal story. She describes her battle with cancer including the cancer diagnosis, search for doctors, chemotherapies, tests, surgeries, costs, travels back and forth from Trinidad to Miami, and the moment she is declared by the doctor to be cancer-free.
But it’s more than that. It’s a testament to Brenda Mohammed’s will, her faith in God, and the love and support of her families and friends.

11. This book is a moving account of the lady's fight against cancer and it gives hope to others who are fighting this terrible disease. I believe her strong faith played a part in her healing. I believe this book to be helpful to other fighters and loved ones of people who are suffering from this disease.

12.
I am Cancer Free is an extremely positive title for something that is so terrifying to pretty much all of us, were we to be diagnosed with it.
No illness is pleasant, but surely cancer is one of the very worst, and although survival rates are increasing all the time depending on the type of cancer concerned, it is good to know that the author, who thankfully defeated this terrible disease, overcome it in order to pen this extremely good read.

What Reviewers are saying about My Life as a Banker: A Life Worth Living.

Happy New Year again, Readers.
Today I start a new series of 'What Reviewers are saying about my Memoirs.'
My first Memoir was, My Life as a Banker: A Life Worth Living."
I published that book in 2014.

Winner of Metamorph's publishing Summer Indie Book Awards in Bio/Members second place, here are extracts of what Reviewers are saying about the book.

To read the full reviews go to Amazon Universal Link.

MY LIFE AS A BANKER

1. A monument to the author's successful career in banking as she rises from a bank clerk to several managerial positions.
2. This book would appeal to readers who enjoy memoirs, insider stories of a different age and different cultures, and anyone looking for confirmation of the strength that can be gained from an upbringing that fosters a belief in God.
3. My Life as a Banker: A Life worth Living]] is a wonderful story detailing how the author started at a clerical level and rose to a senior position, solely on the basis of her dedication, hard work, and intelligence.
4. It is an unforgettable account of the crisis, choices, and challenges she faced in her life. It's about facing impossible circumstances, knowing there is a flicker of hope, and realizing that God is closer to you than your own skin. Great writing with such an interesting premise and structure.
5. A quick, easy read, this engaging memoir provides a glimpse of life few of us have seen. Both history and geography combined with the author's positive outlook to bring her story to life. Most enjoyable
6. My Life As A Banker is a fascinating, intimate story. The author has an engaging writing style that draws you into the story and you feel as though she is talking directly to you, the reader. There is a nice balance between the professional and the personal and while I found the professional aspects rewarding, the highlight for me was reading about the author's interesting life.
7. The book "My Life as a Banker" is a memoir about Brenda Mohammed's early decision to become a banker and the successful career she forged throughout her life.
8. She did not give up, and her success was well-deserving. This book is an encouragement and example to all. Happy reading.
9. It was interesting to see how banking was in another country than the United States. Being a banker myself, I found it interesting and could relate to several tasks that are mentioned. I like the way her family was woven into the story.
10. 'My Life as a banker '' by Brenda Mohammed was an inspirational journey. The author's faith guided her through tribulations and threatening circumstances, and she rose above them. The way she faced challenges was exemplary and was reflected by the guidance of her upbringing and her close connection to her family
11. Don't let the title with the word 'banker' in it fool you into believing this book is for finance professionals only. It is actually the true and inspiring story of one woman's immense faith and family that helps shape her into the powerful, yet humble woman she would become.
All the above reviews are five-stars.
Readers, there is only one critical review.
It is a one-star and the headline is Hardly a life worth writing a book about,
You be the judge of that and tell me what you think.
I look forward to your comments.

A Review of the Year 2017

Looking back at my writing journey in 2017, I accomplished much and it is all because of the reviews and encouragement you gave me.

I ended the Zeeka Series with Resurrection Book 5
Resurrection: Revenge of Zeeka Book 5 is the grand finale to the Science fiction series Zeeka Chronicles: Revenge of Zeeka.
Someone resurrected and it is not Zeeka.
Reviewers said:
1. While the series started with possible abuse of medical technology, the last book leaves us hopeful that technology can one day serve us better than most of us can imagine.
2. Like its predecessors, I found this book easy to read. However, this one, in particular, left me with a sense of fulfillment because the author finally seemed to put Zeeka to rest peacefully.
3. In an entertaining conclusion to the Zeeka series, Resurrection brings the story full circle. If you haven’t read any of the stories in the series, it’s worth starting with book one ‘Revenge of Zeeka’ just to see the author evolve alongside the story and her characters.
4. A fitting Conclusion to the Zeeka Series

Read what Reviewers are saying about Zeeka Chronicles"

1. I found the book to be original, brilliant, and full of suspense.
2. Just when you thought you knew everything about Zombies, comes this imaginative tale that re-defines their existence.
3. I loved this book. It will make a great movie. I recommend it if you love sci-fi novels.
4. Great Science Fiction reading!
5. Twilight Zone-like Sci-Fi Shorts
6. Excellent, original story.
7. Blind-siding Events Abound
8. A fascinating vision of our future
9. An above average zombie series brought together in one superb collection.
10. Teens and up will adore this book.
11. Brenda Mohammed's writing style is evocative of the future and she handles the science in her fiction brilliantly: reading is believing!
12. I loved Zeeka Chronicles; it has worldwide appeal for anyone looking for an entertaining story that is different.

1. From a dog's POV comes a touching tale of overcoming trauma and finding peace with a family she loved. For dog lovers and for everyone else who can appreciate a thoughtful short story.
2. I am a dog lover and enjoyed this story very much. We often forget that our pets have feelings too and they depend on us so much. A pleasant read that made me smile often!
3. . As animals generally live a shorter life than us as humans, it makes their presence all the more special. I also believe that if one does not have children of their own, or cannot have children for whatever reason, that a dog or a cat, or indeed any pet, can be elevated to a very special and unique status in their lives.
4.
The story is clever and really gives you an insight into what this special dog thought about those around them, as well as their own worries and fears about things and situations they did not understand.
5.
If you are an animal lover, or you appreciate that life is passing every single moment, or you believe that pets are not just pets - something to be discarded when they die, you will take something from this book. I will not say you will enjoy it - it hits home on many points that if you lost a pet recently, it may not be the time to read it. But the important thing to recognise is that this is a story with a heart as big as the dog at its centre, and if that doesn't convince you to read it today, nothing will.

On 1st December I released How to Write for Success: Best Writing Advice I received.
This is what Reviewers are saying:
1. An excellent in-depth guide on how to structure your story!
2. A Comprehensive Guide to Writing and Publishing Your Book. A Must-Have for All Writers!

Zeeka Chronicles - Top Reviews

Obtained five great Five-star Reviews for my newest release ZEEKA CHRONICLES.[Released 25th Feb. 2017]

1] I found the book to be original, brilliant, and full of suspense
5.0 out of 5.0 stars
ByA. J.on March 8, 2017
Format: Paperback
I received an advanced paperback copy of this book from the author. I just could not put the book down until I read the last page. There were so many twists and turns that every time I thought I had the ending all figured out, there was a new twist. I found the book to be original, brilliant, and full of suspense. There were many themes playing out. Some parts were dark and terrifying with zombies, murder, kidnapping, and police corruption. Other parts were about true love and family life.
The ending was amazing and I could envisage a bright future with advanced medical technology and robots as companions and helpers. This is a one of a kind book and one I would recommend that everyone should read.

2], A fascinating vision of our future
5.0 out of 5.0 stars
By Katie on March 4, 2017
Format: Kindle Edition
I have purchased and reviewed all five books separately. My only objection was that I wanted to see them in one book since I felt a little impatient when waiting for the next one. The author now gives new readers this opportunity. I really recommend to buy them in one book since the story is difficult to put down and when you finish the first book, you want to read the rest.
Apart from a thrilling story, the author gives us an interesting vision of the future, which seems entirely possible to me. She describes incredible progress in technology while humans do not change as much or as quickly. Her characters are still very much like people we know. They exhibit human weaknesses, can get jealous, vindictive, neglectful. There are only two people who seem perfect and incapable of mistakes in this series, but they are both robots. Evil characters seem scarier than normal bad people we know because they are equipped with better knowledge and technology, but deep down there is nothing demonic about them and they have a nice side as well.

3.Teens and up will adore this book
5.0 out of 5.0 stars
ByReviewed.By.Me on March 9, 2017
Format: Paperback
I was thrilled to receive my advance copy of this book because it contains all five Zeeka stories, which are among my favorite spooky reads. This series is about the havoc the sinister Zeeka and his Zombies unleashed on a little island in the Caribbean and the impact on people who live there. The darker side of humanity is explored with unforeseeable plot twists taking the reader down a sometimes grisly path. Thankfully, there is light at the end of the tunnel and I eventually emerged with feelings of redemption and satisfaction. Future tech is highlighted throughout the series making me desire one of the book's robot helpers who does dishes and kicks butt too.

4].5.0 out of 5.0 stars
“Zeeka Chronicles” is a futuristic story, taking place twenty years from now. After an outbreak of Zika virus on a small island in the US, strange events start taking place, and doctor Raynor and his colleagues, who still remembered the events of twenty years ago, have to deal with the consequences. A strange creature appears in the hospital, claiming to be one of the dead babies, buried by the state many years ago, dug out by the mad scientist and turned into zombies with a sinister goal…
The book consists of two parts, and the second book unveils dark secrets, which concern Raynor’s family and his brother’s disappearance. “Zeeka Chronicles” is a highly compelling mixture of sci-fi, supernatural, and dystopian genres, which make it an even more interesting read. And the story of the zombie number nine, in the end, made just a perfect finale that put a big smile on my face.

5.] 5.0 out of 5.0 stars
An above average zombie series brought together in one superb collection.
By Kato's Revenge on March 13, 2017
Format: Kindle Edition
The Zeeka Chronicles bring together all five stories in the Zeeka series. It is well presented and formatted to a high standard, and it's been a pleasure to see the author's expertise and wordcraft evolve as the series came to its conclusion.

There are many interesting characters in the series, I especially like the robots Miranda and Eve, but also the humans, such as Detective Jack Wildy who is surely due a spin-off story of his own.

It may be beyond most of us to write one good zombie tale, but Brenda Mohammed has given us five.

When book three came out it appeared to be the end of Zeeka's story, but book four - Zeeka's Ghost - took the series to a new and exciting higher level.

Resurrection - Book Five, does what it is supposed to do - it rounds off the series nicely but not in a limp, predictable way.

It is sufficiently different from 'Ghost' to buy on its own, which you can do of course. But 'Chronicles' gives you the whole story for a great price.

So if you want a zombie story with a heart - get this collection today.

Zeeka Returns - Revenge of Zeeka Book 3

This week I am featuring Zeeka Returns:Revenge of Zeeka Book 3.

SYNOPSIS

Killer zombies, Robots, and high tech weapons abound in Zeeka Returns (Revenge of Zeeka Book 3) i
Zeeka is apprehended but was it by the police?
How were the zombies captured?
What is Zeeka's fate?
Read the exciting end to this science fiction horror trilogy.
It is the third book in the series Revenge of Zeeka:Horror Trilogy, which obtained a five-star review and five-star seal from Readers Favorite International in September 2016.

REVIEW

"Brilliant: If I am not mistaken, this third book was originally meant to be the last one in the series but the good news is that there is already Revenge of Zeeka Book 4 out. The author seems to be a genius in writing short pieces that seem to be complete and finished stories in themselves, yet they all leave some space for a next book. This third book could easily be read and enjoyed without knowledge of the previous books in the series. The author reminds us of all the important information without boring the readers who are already familiar with it. This requires some special talent few writers have. It also enables readers to read these books in any order. I read this book long after the first book and shortly after the second book and I was never lost. I will still want to read the fourth book pretty soon for the simple reason that I can't wait to read it.
My favorite character was Miranda, the perfect woman. She is a result of very advanced technology, just as all the zombies in these books are. Her appearance in the third book makes me more hopeful about human progress. While the story of zombies points out the potential misuse of science, Miranda shows its positive side, which is only good for the overall balance in my opinion."

Five Star Book Review of Heart - Warming Tales

Fun and fear-filled fables for a modern audience
By Kato's Revenge on January 15, 2016
Format: Kindle Edition

This is the second collection of stories I have read in a row. This author is new to me so it is interesting to pick up this writer's particular 'voice' and over the course of this book, it comes across well.

Her Online Predator is perhaps the best of a strong bunch of stories, with Marriage On the Rocks a close second (though the male character Roberto was a little to subservient to his wife for my liking). The Undertaker's Wife has a wonderful underlying plot - we can probably see what is coming before the end, and its cool to see the MC freaking out along the way, before the big reveal is made.

All the stories are well written and readable. The stories are different from each other and make for interesting reading. Recommended.
