A GREAT WAY TO CONNECT WITH OTHER AUTHORS

Many writers love to participate in anthologies because they're a great way to connect with other authors in their genre and, even more importantly, find new readers. When authors participate in an anthology, they pool resources and share in the promotion of the books, thereby finding a wider audience.

The How to Write For Success Literary Forum founded by Author Brenda Mohammed published seven Poetry Anthologies and six Magazines.
They were all Number One Bestsellers upon release.

POETRY ANTHOLOGIES

A SPARK OF HOPE: POEMS FOR PREVENTION OF SUICIDE - I , II, III
BREAK THE SILENCE: POEMS AGAINST DOMESTIC VIOLENCE - I, II
PEACE BEGINS WITH US: POETIC VERSES ON PEACE, LOVE, AND HUMANITY
CREATING A BETTER WORLD: VERSES ON PEACE

MAGAZINES

HUMMING BIRD MAGAZINE - I, II

AN INTERVIEW WITH KAYE LYNNE BOOTH by BRENDA MOHAMMED

I had an amazing interview with Kaye Lynne Booth, one of our valuable members of the How to Write for Success Literary Forum.

Kaye Lynne is well-qualified in Creative Writing and Publishing and has excelled in her author business.

I am sure that readers and authors will be very pleased to know her.

BRENDA: Tell us a little bit about yourself.

KAYE LYNNE: I’ve devoted a lifetime to writing. I sold my first poem in 1996, and I’ve been at it ever since. I’m a self-taught, do-it-yourself author.

When I don’t know how to do something, I search for answers until I do.

I have three Master’s degrees in creative writing and publishing because I needed to learn how to craft a book, how to publish it, and set it up for success. I’m learning more all the time.

I like to pay it forward anytime I can. I offer book reviews and author interviews on my blog, provide fellow authors with opportunities to collaborate through anthologies, host virtual writing events, and offer affordable book advertising through book blog tours. I’m also into trading services with my fellow authors, such as proofreading, editing services, or book cover designs.

BRENDA. When did you first realize that you loved Literature and the Arts?

KAYE LYNNE: When I was in the fourth grade and we did a unit on writing Haiku, I fell in love with the poetry form and it opened my eyes to the power of words.

Unfortunately, in undergraduate school, an experience with a student teacher in an entry-level English class caused me to abandon writing in search of something else for several years, but due to encouragement from my husband, friends, and family, I eventually started writing poetry and children’s books.

Later, I tried my hand at short stories, and then while studying for my first Master’s degree in Creative writing: genre fiction, I wrote two novels, one western and one science fantasy.

Dusty Saddles Publishing published the Western story, then revised and re-released it six years later through WordCrafter Press as Book One in my Women in the West Adventure Series, DELILAH, which is Western historical women’s fiction.

The science fantasy novel idea was epic, so the book I wrote was the first in a four-book series, PLAYGROUND FOR THE GODS.

I haven’t done anything with it yet, but I’m thinking of offering this series as a monthly subscription on Ream, before releasing the individual books through retailers.

BRENDA: I noticed that you are a Screenwriter. Can you tell us more about what a screenwriter does?

KAYE LYNNE: I am probably not the person to ask about this. I’ve written a few screenplays, which is what a screenwriter does, but just as an author must get their book in front of the right audience, so must a screenwriter with their screenplay to get it produced.

You almost need to live in California to get a screenplay produced for movies or television. Especially for television, where you must be able to attend meetings and work with a team of writers, California residence is a must. Or you can write an independent film and enter it in screenplay contests with the hopes of being noticed, which all takes a lot of time and money.

I’ve written screenplays for two feature-length films, a spec. script for television, and a script for a horror short. If I could get it in front of the right eyes, my screenplay, Bonnie, which is Bonnie’s perspective on the Bonnie and Clyde story, could be a Netflix or Showtime exclusive film. Unfortunately, I don’t have the resources to get it where it needs to be for that to happen.

But I didn’t get a master’s degree in screenwriting expecting to make movies overnight. I chose to take screenwriting because I liked it and wanted to learn how to do it. It is a different kind of writing, for a visual audience, but there are a lot of things, like methods for outlining and techniques for story or character development, which I have transferred over into the writing of my books.

BRENDA: You stated on your Facebook page that you offer WordCrafter Quality Writing & Author Services. Please elaborate on that.

KAYE LYNNE: WordCrafter Quality Writing & Author Services has three branches; Write it Right Quality Editing Services, WordCrafter Book Blog Tours, and WordCrafter Press. So, if you are in need of editing or proofreading, want to book a book blog tour to promote your book, or are looking for someone to publish your book for you, I’m your girl. The editing services are affordable, and the book blog tours are even more so.

As far as publishing goes, I publish through Draft2Digital and do a 50/50 royalty split with the author. I provide a proofread, but if your manuscript requires heavier editing, I do charge for that. I also provide a book cover if needed, and each book gets its own blog tours and other promotional tasks. I work with the author to get their book as much exposure as possible and get it in front of the right audience.

WordCrafter Press publishes widely, so our books are available globally, to reach an international audience. They are available on Amazon, of course, but also on Smashwords, Barnes & Noble, Rakuten Kobo & Kobo Plus, Apple Books, Gardners, Tolino, Everand, Vivlio, Fable, and more, as well as being available on Overdrive, Borrowbox, Baker & Taylor, Bibliotheca, and other library servers.

BRENDA: Do you have many clients?

KAYE LYNNE: I recently found myself working at my author business full time, so right now I have room to take on new clients for all of my services. I’m also planning to add an offering of custom book cover design by WordCrafter and Sonoran Dawn Studios later this year.

BRENDA: How often do you publish posts to your Blog?

KAYE LYNNE: Writing to be Read publishes at least three posts a week; Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, but often we have extra posts thrown in. When we’re running a book blog tour, I post every day of the tour, so some days have two posts. I do all the Monday posts and do book reviews on Fridays, but I have a great blog team, who help to fill the other spots.

We each do one or more monthly blog series. I do “Writer’s Corner” with writing and publishing-related topics, and “Review in Practice” reviewing non-fiction writing and publishing books with the practical uses I found for them.

Robbie Cheadle does “Growing Bookworms”; about kids’ books and ways to encourage reading; “Treasuring Poetry”, with author/poet interviews and book reviews; and “In Touch With Nature”, which takes a look at African wildlife with magnificent photos and video footage. DL Mullan does “Undawntech” which discusses technology and how it is used, Jeff Bowles does a series on all things pop culture, “Pop with Jeff Bowles”, and Arthur Rosch does “Mind Fields”, which features unique and unusual poems and essays.

BRENDA: How many books have you published?

KAYE LYNNE: To date, I have published three novels, a novella, a poetry collection, and a short fiction collection of my own. WordCrafter Press publishes at least one short fiction anthology and a poetry anthology annually, so I also have seven short fiction anthologies, four poetry anthologies and two writing reference anthologies under my belt, with two more short fiction anthologies planned for release later this year. I also publish books for others, but I don’t count them under my book credits.

BRENDA: Tell us about your most recent book.

KAYE LYNNE: My most recent book is a writer’s reference book, The D.I.Y. Author, which releases through retailers on June 4th, 2024. There will be a virtual release party, hosted by Writing to be Read on release day, and everyone is invited to join us in sending off this unique writer’s reference that only I could write.

You’ll find the blog link in my answer to the last question, below. I do hope you all drop by and join in the fun. I’ll be there answering questions and comments throughout the day. Signed print copies and discounted digital copies and WordCrafter services will be available through the D.I.Y. Store there until the end of the week.

The D.I.Y. Author is available for pre-order in digital and print formats now.

BARRY HOLMES MYSTERIES IS FINALIST IN INDEPENDENT AUTHORS AWARD 2024

BARRY HOLMES MYSTERIES IS FINALIST IN INDEPENDENT AUTHORS AWARD 2024

Driven by love, Barry Holmes, a former soldier, returned to his country to search for his ex-girlfriend's kidnapped daughter and discovered he was a father too.

Set in the beautiful Caribbean islands of Trinidad and Tobago, young adults will love BARRY HOLMES MYSTERIES with three thrilling and exciting tales of kidnapping, and mysterious disappearances. The stories are interspersed with clean romantic scenes to delight you.

In three mind-blowing episodes, the author weaved the first story, THE GIFT OF LOVE, to introduce Barry as an amateur detective.

In THE AXE MURDERER, which is well written in the author's humorous style, Barry faced many obstacles in identifying the real perpetrator, as others fit the profile. Readers are taken on a rollercoaster ride to capture the real culprit. The end is surprising.

WHAT HAPPENED TO MARY LOO, revolves around the bizarre disappearance of a businessman's wife immediately after the lockdown for the coronavirus pandemic is lifted. Did she really disappear?

Here are reasons why this book should be in your library.

1.    BARRY HOLMES MYSTERIES received a five-star review from Readers' Favorite International in September 2021.

.  2  The Author won the Culture, Literature, and Research [CLR] Award in India for Best Writer- Fantasy, for this book.

3.    On World Book Day in April 2023, the book received a certificate of recognition from The International Chamber of Writers and Artists [CIESART], Spain.

4.    In May 2024, the book was a finalist in the Independent Author Awards 2024 hosted by Literary Global Awards.

Here is an extract of the five-star Readers’ Favorite Review:

“Brenda Mohammed is a refreshing author who brings out the best in her characters. Barry Holmes Mysteries includes three short stories introducing Barry and his deductive reasoning skills.

I found the stories simple, but the plots unusual. From the beginning, the author seizes the reader's interest and draws you into the lives of her characters and the beautiful Caribbean Islands.

Each story holds all the elements of a good mystery novel; well-rounded characters, a solid plot, and twists that unfold as the crimes are solved.

The author is known for her diverse interests and writing abilities, which come out in her stories. I enjoyed reading this book and look forward to other Barry Holmes mysteries."

IN MEMORY OF MY BELOVED FATHER DR. ANDREW KHAN

IN MEMORY OF MY BELOVED FATHER DR. ANDREW KHAN

When I was a child, my father would rock me on his knees,

Give me advice and tell me how much he cared and loved me.

I was a few months old but I retained his advice in my memory.

Although he passed away I still love my father dearly.

*

His talks with me were meaningful and educational.

He was an outstanding and devoted school principal.

I know he was God-fearing as he prayed with us each night.

He was always teaching his children to do what was right.

*

No wonder the Trinidad and Tobago Government saw it fit,

To send him to the United Kingdom on a Government scholarship,

To pursue studies in the London University Institute of Education.

He graduated with a 580-page thesis and was given a big promotion.

*

As District Inspector of Schools, his performance was outstanding.

Nothing for him in those primitive days was too demanding.

He attained a Doctorate in Education from Florida State University.

Dr. Andrew M. Khan was one of the pioneers of Education in his country.

*

He led by example and made outstanding contributions to the church also.

He became the first Presiding Elder in the Presbyterian Church in Trinidad and Tobago.

Dr. Khan served in all courts of the church until his passing in 1975 prematurely.

The Presbyterian Teachers’ Association honoured him with gold medals posthumously.

*

His children excelled in their various careers and served the nation.

One was a Judge, and another was Assistant Comptroller – Customs and Excise Division.

One owned a business, one was an Accountant, one a Public Relations Officer, and one a Spanish Professor.

One was a School Principal, another a Teacher, and one was an Executive Foreign Service Officer.

*

I was the eighth child in that family and became a Bank Manager.

After my father’s death, I compiled and published his memoirs.

In the Foreword written by former Trinidad and Tobago Chief Justice, Sir Isaac Hyatali,

He remarked, “Dr. Khan was one of the greatest intellectuals in this society.”

A SUCCESS JOURNEY

A SUCCESS JOURNEY

MY JOURNEY FROM BANKING TO INSURANCE AND THEN WRITING

I have spent a lot of time on this blog advertising my books.

Today I will tell you something about me.

First of all, let me thank my 213,000 readers for following and reading my blog. Without you, I could not have a blog.

It has occurred to me that my dear readers want to know why I have written multiple genres.

In case you have now started to follow this blog, I will bring you up-to-date.

I have written 5 Memoirs, 3 Children's books, 3 Romance, 7 Science Fiction,  3 Self-Help, 4 Mysteries,  1 Conspiracy Thriller,  1 Psychological thriller,  12 Poetry books, and 8 Christian Books. I have also compiled 7 Anthologies and 6 Magazines for the How to Write for Success Literary Forum, of which I am the Founder, and for The International Chamber of Writers and Artists  [CIESART], as National President for Trinidad and Tobago.

I published 60 books and I cannot give details of each one, but I will try to generalize and be brief.

My first book was a memoir of my near-death experience with cancer. I am Cancer Free was a No. 1 bestseller and won an award for Health and Fitness from Reader's Favorite International.

That success spurred me on to write another.

I wrote My Life as a Banker and that book was popular with many of my former banker friends who were interested in the changes that the bank made over the years, changes in the bank's attitude towards its employees throughout my working years, and the important roles I played to bring about changes.

The book won second place in Bio's/Memoirs in Metamorph Publishing Summer Indie Book Awards 2016.

I continued writing and penned a book titled Retirement is Fun. In that book, I wrote about my new career in Insurance where I qualified for the Million Dollar Round Table six times in a row. I also described my many travel adventures around the world. From the great reviews I received, I was inspired to continue writing and I wrote my Father's Memoirs, and my Travel Memoirs.

Since I had no more memoirs to write I tried Children's books, moved on to Romance and won more awards, and then I delved into Science Fiction.

My science fiction novel ZEEKA CHRONICLES also won an award in Reader's Favorite International.

After such great success, I wrote HOW TO WRITE FOR SUCCESS and it was another winner. I followed up with How to Write for Success II, and Self-Publishing Tips.

My imagination began to give me ideas about Mystery novels, Conspiracy theories, and Psychological thrillers and I wrote more books.

Poetry suddenly seemed very attractive and I wrote 12 poetry books which were all bestsellers upon New Release.

Because of the chaotic state of the world, I suddenly got an urge to write Christian books and I wrote eight of them, four of which are poetic.

It has been an exciting journey for me, participating in book signings and Book Fairs, and making newspaper headlines.

I have won Literary awards in the USA, Peru, Kazakhstan, Seychelles, Nigeria, India, Romania, Argentina, Ukraine, Morocco, Philippines, Oman, Hong Kong, Portugal, Uruguay, Indonesia, Barcelona, Madrid, Paris, Switzerland, Italy, Sri Lanka, Austria, Russia, Germany, Syria, Portugal, Czech Republic, Hungary, Chile, Egypt, Honduras, Mexico, Pakistan, Cuba, China, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Ecuador, Bosnia, Trinidad and Tobago, and the UK.

I also received several awards from CIESART Spain and was

featured on the cover of their magazine.

In 2024 I was honoured with the PLATO AWARD by CIESART.

The values highlighted by PLATO are Wisdom, Temperance,

 Courage, Justice, and more.

I am an advocate for Peace, Suicide Prevention, and Against

Domestic Violence.

ZOMBIE LOVERS CAN READ A FUTURISTIC THRILLER

ZOMBIE LOVERS CAN READ A FUTURISTIC THRILLER

DEAR FRIENDS,

I am sharing with you one of my bestsellers for your reading pleasure.

REVENGE OF ZEEKA - ZEEKA AND THE ZOMBIES is Book 1 in a horror mystery thriller series about futuristic zombies and their clever Mastermind Zeeka.
.A zika virus outbreak is the start of the island's troubles.
Twenty years later terror stalks the island.
It’s the year 2036, and it’s a high-tech world.
Dr. Raynor Sharpe saw zombie-like men with small heads walking on the beach.
Was he dreaming or was it a reality?
He received a call from Dr. George Brown of the Gosh Hospital where he works. Upon his arrival, he is surprised to hear Dr. Brown say that a zombie visited him, he sedates him and places him in Room Nine.
He had no name and he called him Number Nine.
The zombie told Dr. Brown that his Master was Zeeka and there were fifty others like him planning an attack on the hospital.
The mystery deepens when Number Nine disappears from the hospital.
Was he really a zombie and was he speaking the truth?
The plot thickens when Janet’s wedding invitation reveals that her fiancĂ© is Dr. Jason Stephens, who the police suspect of being Master Zeeka.
Jason calls off the engagement with Janet and disappears.
Raynor finds Janet and finally proposes to her.
Did she accept?
Did the police find Zeeka?
Read a review from an ardent fan:
"This was such a fun read. The reading world is crammed with zombie stories, but I'll bet you haven't read one like this. It had the feel of an old black-and-white sci-fi movie, which I love, blended with modern themes and a more modern medical aspect.
Considering the length, I was surprised by how much was packed in it as things zipped along. I loved Janet and Raynor, and their relationship was a nice addition. I'm curious to learn more about the 'zombies' and Zeeka in the next parts."
