The National Award Committee of The Noble Laureate Award-Trinidad and Tobago brings together four accomplished personalities whose experience spans literature, education, cultural leadership, professional life and the visual arts. Together, they represent a nation shaped by many peoples, traditions and histories-and a creative voice that reaches far beyond the Caribbean.
BRENDA MOHAMMED
President, NAC Trinidad and Tobago
Brenda Mohammed, a former bank manager, is a prolific multi-award-winning author, literary advocate and screenwriter from Trinidad and Tobago.
She has published 68 books and 68 audiobooks across a remarkably diverse range of genres, including science fiction, memoir, mystery, romance, psychological thrillers, Christian nonfiction, children's literature, self-help, poetry and anthologies, in addition to writing screenplays.
Her screenplay ZEEKA AND THE ZOMBIES II: A Cinematic Zombie Thriller Set in the Caribbean was named a finalist in the Horror-com Film & Screenplay Contest in September 2025. Her screenplay THE GIFT OF LOVE also reached the quarterfinals of the Stage 32 & DramaBox Screenwriting Contest.
Beyond her own writing, Brenda is deeply involved in international literary and cultural work. She serves as President of CIESART-Trinidad and Tobago, part of Cámara Internacional de Escritores y Artistas, an international organization headquartered in Spain with representation across five continents and a mission centered on literature, art, peace and humanity.
She is also Founder of the How to Write for Success Literary Forum, an international literary community connecting writers and poets around the world. As President of NAC Trinidad and Tobago, she brings this experience in international networking, literary development and cultural promotion to The Noble Laureate Award.

FIONA GOBIN
Prose Specialist
Fiona Gobin, from California, Trinidad and Tobago, is a travel and tourism specialist, poet and author. She holds a diploma from Penn Foster Career School in Scranton, Pennsylvania, USA, and is the author of the poetry collection The Light Within.
Her literary work has appeared in international anthologies, magazines, online literary platforms and cultural groups, and she has received certificates and recognitions from international organizations for her contributions to literature and poetry.
Fiona serves as Director of the How to Write for Success Literary Forum-Trinidad and Tobago and as National Director of CIESART-Trinidad and Tobago. Her combination of literary involvement, cultural activity and international engagement brings an important perspective to the Committee's evaluation of prose.
FLORABELLE LUTCHMAN
Poetry Specialist
Florabelle Lutchman is a retired school principal from South Trinidad whose professional life has been deeply connected with education, community service and literature.
Her dedication to education earned her national recognition, including Principal of the Year in 1999 and a San Fernando City Council Award in 2002.
As a poet, Florabelle has contributed to international anthologies and socially engaged literary publications addressing themes including peace, domestic violence, suicide prevention, human trafficking and drug addiction.
She serves as Vice President of CIESART-Trinidad and Tobago and Chief Ambassador of the How to Write for Success Literary Forum. Her work reflects a belief in poetry not only as an artistic form, but also as a means of social awareness, compassion and human connection.
RASHIFF MOHAMMED
Visual Arts Specialist
Rashiff Mohammed is a former bank manager and credit manager whose long-standing appreciation of art has developed through visits to museums, exhibitions and cultural institutions around the world.
His experience has given him a particular interest in artistic styles, genres, techniques and visual expression. As Visual Arts Specialist of NAC Trinidad and Tobago, he contributes this cultivated critical perspective to the Committee's assessment of works submitted in the visual arts category.
TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO-A LITERARY AND CULTURAL JOURNEY
Trinidad and Tobago occupies a distinctive place within Caribbean and world culture.
One of the country's most internationally recognized literary figures, Sir V. S. Naipaul, who was born in Chaguanas, Trinidad, received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2001-an achievement that placed the nation's literary heritage firmly on the global stage.
Today, Trinidad and Tobago enters another international cultural conversation through participation in The Noble Laureate Award, an independent international initiative connecting nations through poetry, prose, visual art, culture and humanity.
This dual-island Caribbean nation is shaped by a remarkable multicultural heritage.
African, Indian, European, Chinese, Syrian and other cultural influences have contributed to a society in which Christian, Hindu and Muslim traditions coexist alongside numerous other expressions of identity and community.
This diversity is visible in the country's festivals, cuisine, music, language, literature and art. Its world-famous Carnival transforms the islands each year through costume, movement, calypso, soca and the unmistakable sound of the steelpan-an instrument born in Trinidad and Tobago and now recognized throughout the world.
The country's natural heritage is equally extraordinary. Trinidad and Tobago is home to numerous bird species and internationally known ecological areas, including the Asa Wright Nature Centre and the Caroni Bird Sanctuary. Its eastern and northeastern shores also provide important nesting grounds for endangered leatherback sea turtles.
Beaches, tropical landscapes and Caribbean hospitality have long attracted visitors, but the country's cultural identity extends far beyond tourism. Music. Film. Fashion. Literature. Visual art. Together, these forms reveal a nation constantly translating its multicultural experience into creative expression.
