THE HORRORS OF WAR

I was inspired to write this poem after watching a Netflix Movie named ATONEMENT.

I hope my readers will like and agree with it.

THE HORRORS OF WAR
Echoes of the cannon's roar fill the smoky air.
Children's laughter ceases as their lives are not spared.
Human bodies lie with silent eyes and empty stares.
Tyrants with loud voices shout, inciting fear.
*
Dreams are shattered beneath a rain of lead.
Fields of green grass turn blood red.
Men and women fall and the innocent cries out in vain.
No words can describe profound loss and pain.
*
Soldiers are maimed and mentally impaired for life.
They live with nightmares and memories of strife.
Bombs and grenades echo in their heads.
Images of death create a sense of lingering dread.
*
Military honours do not compensate for the horror and trauma.
Soldiers suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder.
War’s cruel grip constricts the heart
Homes and hearts are torn apart.
*
Let peace and love prevail among nations.
It’s time to end the killing and devastation.
Solve problems by amicable communication.
Let Humanity reign in every situation.
