PEACE BEGINS WITH US

The world needs peace and love more than ever today.

Every day we hear of wars and disputes among the nations.

A lack of communication leads to disagreements and war breaks out.

I am of the view that when we have inner peace, only then can we live in peace with other people.

When we live peacefully with one another in our families, with our neighbours, in our cities, and in our society, then can we transmit peace to neighbouring countries and beyond.

It is not possible to change everything in the world, but if our hearts and minds are focused on peaceful things we will achieve peace around us.

A spiritual leader said that world peace starts with the individual finding personal peace: “The creation of a more peaceful and happier society has to begin from the level of the individual, and from there, it can expand to one's family, to one's neighborhood, to one's community, and so on.”

We can achieve inner peace by spending time with nature, meditating, giving thanks, and taking responsibility for our actions.

Never let mistakes discourage you. Declutter your mind and your space. Be content whatever your situation. Never give up, and most of all love yourself.

I thank Princess Lovelyn P. Eyo,  for her brilliant Foreword. She touched on every salient point and conveyed the true message of the title of this Anthology. I also thank Muhammad Shanazar, Special Representative Ambassador, International Human Rights Observer, United Nations, and Member of Amnesty International UK at Secretary General World Institute for Peace, Nigeria, for his fabulous medley of peace poems.

I  thank every Ambassador of the How to Write for Success Literary Network and the 80 participating members of this worthy Anthology, PEACE BEGINS WITH US.

Last, but not least, I thank the Editor, Florabelle Lutchman, one of HTWFSLN's Ambassadors, for editing the manuscript.

Here is my poem:

PEACE BEGINS AT HOME

If humans recognize that God is our Father

We should consider each one a sister or brother.

We must respect all humans as members of one family.

And live with one another in peace and harmony.

*

Strife in the family began in the days of Adam and Eve.

Cain killed his brother Abel because of greed.

Fighting within families for property and money,

Has always been a problem in the homes of many.

*

World peace cannot be achieved if there’s always strife.

Peace must begin at home and in your own life.

Lives are more valuable than material gain.

From harming and demeaning others, please abstain.
