THE SUCCESS OF HOW TO WRITE FOR SUCCESS LITERARY FORUM

The book HOW TO WRITE FOR SUCCESS was published on my birthday 1st December 2017.

It was not planned that way. It just happened. I started writing ‘How to Write for Success’ just after I had published Zeeka Chronicles in February 2017. Because of the resounding success of Zeeka Chronicles. I decided to share with new and aspiring authors how to write a best-selling and award-winning book. I was hesitant to publish the book as I was unsure how well it would be received by other authors. I finally published it and it was live on Amazon on 1st December 2017. Was that a coincidence that it was live on my birthday?

In January 2018, one month after the book How to Write for Success was published, Readers Favorite gave it a five-star review. It also garnered several more five-star reviews. That inspired me to start the Literary Forum HOW TO WRITE FOR SUCCESS on 5th February 2018.

I had no idea at that time what direction the forum would take. We had few members and at first, I felt that we were not achieving much. However, with our innovative ideas, we grew by leaps and bounds.

I will list the successes hereunder:

Feb.2019 – With 49 co-authors, A Spark of Hope: A Treasury of Poems for Saving Lives Volume 1 was published.

Feb. 2020 – With 64 co-authors, A Spark of Hope: A Treasury of Poems for Saving Lives Volume 2 was published.

Both books topped the charts on Amazon and made Best Seller No. 1 within the space of a few days.

March 5th 2020 - Together with 87 co-authors, the Forum also published a ground-breaking Anthology, Break the Silence: An Anthology Against Domestic Violence.

The book contained an article by the Moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Trinidad, Right Reverend Joy Abdul-Mohan. The Anthology topped the charts of Amazon in a few days and became an Amazon bestseller No 1

The sub-forums Poems for Suicide Prevention, Poems Against  Domestic Violence, and Library of How to Write for Success were established thereafter.

15th February 2020 Alem Hailu of the Ethiopian Herald published a review of the book How to Write for Success. CLICK HERE TO READ

On 28th May 2020. WORLD NATIONS WRITERS UNION conferred on How to Write for Success a rare and exclusive award to selfless literary institutions that have very high standards of operations, and serve the world of literature selflessly.

Two sisters from Trinidad and Tobago created a Poetry vaccine

This article was published in The Ethiopian Herald on October 25, 2020, about CHAOTIC TIMES: POETRY VACCINE FOR COVID-19 written by Brenda Mohammed and Florabelle Lutchman with Foreword by Shiju H. Pallithazheth
THANK YOU, Alem Hailu
https://www.press.et/english/?p=29431#

"Everyone is hoping for a vaccine to prevent them from getting the Coronavirus. However, to date, no vaccine for Covid-19 has been invented. Hundreds of thousands of people are getting sick and dying all over the world.

What can we do? Our lives are simple but in these times we need hope and encouragement and general information concerning this devastating disease that is overpowering the world.

The Lockdown periods have caused much anxiety and stress emotionally, physically, and financially, and many have become suicidal.

Brenda Mohammed and Florabelle Lutchman, two sisters have come together to bring hope, encouragement, and amusement to all in this Anthology, “Chaotic Times: Poetry Vaccine for Covid 19.”

The poems of these authors are the right vaccine for our soul in this austere, even dramatic space and time we are going through.

It will prove to be an unforgettable remembrance of what we all went through in 2020, a year that really never was.

A reviewer of the book had this to say. “The vaccine for Covid 19 has not yet been discovered, but the poems of the great authors Brenda Mohamed and Florabelle Lutchman are the right vaccine for our soul in this austere, even dramatic space and time we are going through. “CHAOTIC TIMES” is a volume of poetry with extremely positive reflections, bright valences, and lyricism of calm reconciliation with the chaotic rhythms of the existence of two charming spirits that offer to the reader a true therapy through poetry. Between the pages of this volume is a multitude of solutions to various human turmoil. I am sure that the grace, the dexterity of the mind, and the sensitivity of the authors’ souls will vibrate for you as they vibrated for me.” Corina Junghiatu

CHAOTIC TIMES: POETRY VACCINE FOR COVID-19 was published on October 13th, 2020, and became an Amazon bestseller in Inspirational and religious Poetry after three days on October 16th, 2020. It is available in Paperback and the Kindle Version on Amazon. It is Free to download.

Trinidad and Tobago writer Brenda Mohammed gets prestigious award

T&T writer gets prestigious award RYAN BACHOO ryan.bachoo@cnc3.co.tt
https://www.guardian.co.tt/news/tt-writer-gets-prestigious-award-6.2.1214968.2fa3806011?fbc

In the midst of the gloom of the pandemic, one T&T writer has found a reason to celebrate.

Brenda Mohammed received the Prashamshith Pathr (Certificate of Appreciation) from one of the world’s most active writers’ forums, Motivational Strips, and the Indian government’s most respected literary institution, Gujarat Sahitya Academy.

It was awarded to 350 prominent writers from 80 countries as India marked its 74th Independence Day on August 15.

It’s a phenomenal achievement for a woman who was battling ovarian cancer 15 years ago.

Forced to seek medical help abroad, Mohammed travelled to the University of Miami Sylvester Cancer Centre for surgery and chemotherapy.

Not only did she fully recover and was able to return to her job at Republic Bank but that journey shaped everything she did after that.

As a cancer survivor, many who were ailing sought her advice encouraging her 2013 book I Am Cancer Free.

It became very popular among those fighting the disease. “That gave me the encouragement to write more books,” Mohammed said.

That’s exactly what she did.

To date, she has written 27 multi-genre novels climbing the ladder at various prominent writers groups around the globe.

A year after joining the Literary Forum, Motivational Strips, the world’s most active writers’ forum with writers from 163 countries and monthly visitors crossing 7.3 million, she was appointed Regional Director of Operations.

In October 2018, she was appointed an Honorary Member of the World Higher Literary Academic Council of World Nations Writers’ Union.

Her Prashamshith Pathr award made headlines in several newspapers around the world. “I was delightfully surprised when I saw my name on the list of awardees. This is not just a premium award for me, but more than that, I value it as the success of Trinidad and Tobago writers,” she said.

Founder of Motivational Strips, Shiju Pallithazheth said it was “a happy moment to see Trinidad and Tobago shining on the world literary map and Brenda Mohammed crowned as its literary gem.”

While it may be the highlight of her writing career, it certainly isn’t her first award.

In January, the Vistabella resident was inducted into The Indie Authors Hall of Fame in the United States —an establishment for self-published authors who have achieved fame.

In December 2018, she was awarded the World Laureate in Literature by World Nations Writers’ Union.

On August 31, 2019, Mohammed was honoured by the Seychelles Government Accredited Literary Society [ LLSF] for her contribution to world poetry, creativity, and writing expertise.

Her genres include memoirs, science fiction, romance, self-help, mystery, children’s books, and poetry. In fact, her self-help book, How to Write for Success, became an important guide for new and aspiring authors.

It received a five-star review and a five-star seal from Readers Favorite one month after publication.

It also won the gold award in the category non-fiction in Connections EMagazine Readers’ Choice awards 2019 and a silver medal for second place in all genres.

It would seem that Mohammed doesn’t need any further inspiration with so many awards and accolades bestowed on her but she says: “This award has given me encouragement to do more work in the field of literature that will benefit the world at large.”

Now, as great T&T writers such as VS Naipaul, CLR James, and Earl Lovelace have done in the past, she wants to create literature as a form of tourism for this country. “Although this is a literature award, I see this as a way of boosting tourism in Trinidad and Tobago. Motivational Strips is the world’s most active writers’ forum and has writers from 163 countries with monthly visitors crossing 7.3 million. All eyes are now focused on Trinidad and Tobago and whenever the pandemic ends, I hope we will see a flux of visitors to this country.”

Though the Prashamshith Pathr award is her crowning achievement thus far, it is by no means the final chapter in Brenda Mohammed’s story.

THE SUCCESS STORY OF HOW TO WRITE FOR SUCCESS LITERARY FORUM

HOW TO WRITE FOR SUCCESS LITERARY FORUM was founded by Trinidadian author BRENDA MOHAMMED in February 2018.

After her successful entry into the literary world in 2013 and having written a number of books, some of which won awards and became bestsellers, she wrote the book HOW TO WRITE FOR SUCCESS to help new and aspiring authors. One month after its publication, Readers Favorite International gave it a five-star review.
Reviewed by Darin Godby for Readers’ Favorite, Five Stars.
“Author Brenda Mohammed gives the reader valuable nuggets of truth to use within their own writing career in How To Write For Success. There is a brief introduction listing the various books the author has written and her ability to encompass different types of literature. The purpose of this book is to show readers that the author has a passion to help other readers fulfill their lifelong dream of writing their own book. I really appreciated the personal stories on how the author writes her own material and how important research is, even before one begins to write. She also lists several Facebook groups she has joined to help promote both her material and herself as an author.
One of the best statements I appreciated within this book is: “A book description is your sales pages. It will sell your book. Make sure it is engaging and can turn a browse into a buy.” This is a great and valuable information for a writer to understand. There is also listed the importance of copyrighting the material, getting an ISBN number, etc. Whoever gets the ISBN number is considered the publisher. The author has the choice of getting their own or letting the publisher get it for them. Pre-orders are very important to an author. Creating excitement before the book is even printed is huge. There are also many listed things that one can do following publication. Branding yourself is also very important. People must know about you and your material, how to find it, and consider reading it. I really enjoyed all the links provided in the e-book, allowing the reader to go to various publishers, writing aids, Facebook groups, etc. This is an asset to any writer at any level, given the detailed information, but for the beginner, it is a must-have!.”
This review inspired Brenda to start the Literary Forum, How to Write for Success.
In October 2018, Shiju H Pallithazheth, the Founder of Motivational Strips, the world’s most active writers’ forum approached Brenda to affiliate her forum with Motivational Strips and she agreed. This affiliation worked in favour of both forums and the benefits were many. Both groups saw an increase in membership.

In February 2019, How to Write for Success Literary Forum produced an Anthology of Poems to prevent Suicide. ‘A Spark of Hope’ co-authored by 47 poets of both forums topped the charts of Amazon and became Amazon bestseller No 1 in Poetries and Anthologies.

In August 2019, the book ‘How to Write for Success;’ topped all the books in the Non-Fiction category of Connections Emagazine Readers’ Choice awards and won the gold medal. It also won the silver medal in the overall categories for second place. The first place went to one of Brenda’s books, ‘Stories People Love.’ It was a double victory.

Because of favourable reports received about A Spark of Hope, which saved many from committing suicide, on 11th February 2020, the forum published Volume two of A Spark of Hope. That book, which was co-authored by 64 poets, also topped the charts of Amazon to become bestseller No 1 in Poetries and Anthologies.
The increase in Domestic Violence throughout the world raised much concern for poets in both forums. On March 5th, Break the Silence: An Anthology against Domestic Violence, coauthored by 87 poets was published by the forum. That Anthology also topped the charts of Amazon to become bestseller No 1 in Poetries and Anthologies.

The merits of the book, ‘How to Write for Success’ were featured in a comprehensive review in the Ethiopian Herald Sunday Edition on February 16th, 2020, by senior journalist Alem Hailu. He gave full details of how it can help new and even seasoned authors.
This is one sentence from his lengthy review, ‘As a novelist, book reviewer, and editor myself, I wish I had this book by my bedside for reference in my previous literary pursuits, for unlike other books, I made recourse to, in a bid to fathom the literary devices authors, as well as book reviewers, are expected to well digest, HOW TO WRITE FOR SUCCESS profits a wide array of writers if they, in good time, upload it in their backpacks.’

On 28th May 2020, WORLD NATIONS WRITERS UNION conferred on How to Write for Success Literary Forum a rare and exclusive award to selfless literary institutions that have very high standards of operations, and serve the world of literature selflessly.

On August 15th, 2020, it was a moment of pride when the Founder and all Administrators of HOW TO WRITE FOR SUCCESS LITERARY FORUM were honoured by Motivational Strips, the world’s most active writers’ forum, and Gujarat Sahitya Academy of Gujarat, India.

Interview on Red River Radio hosted by Barbara Ehrentreu

Today I had an interview on Red River Radio hosted by Barbara Ehrentreu.
Barbara is a great host.
Joining us on the show was Shiju H. Pallithazheth Author of Katashi Tales and Founder of Motivational Strips.
Thank you Barbara Ehrentreu for this wonderful interview on your Radio Show. It was lots of fun speaking to you and Shiju H. Pallithazheth.
You were a perfect host.
If readers want to listen to the interview please click on this link.
Here are the Interview Questions and answers:

Where were you born and where do you live now?
Barbara, I was born in Trinidad and I still live there. I have travelled to many Countries all over the world but I love my home in Trinidad.

Besides writing what is your occupation now? What made you decide to stop being a banker and work in insurance? Why did you leave the insurance field if you are not there anymore?
I am a former Bank Manager. My job was to give loans and overdrafts to business people. I turned many of them into millionaires. I took early retirement from Banking and moved into insurance. I also excelled there. But I fell ill and had to go abroad for a few months for treatment. After I got better I wrote a book about my illness. I am Cancer Free. It was a best seller and it won many awards.

Do you have any hobbies?
My hobbies are reading and writing. I go to the movies now and then and travel around the island with my nieces and sisters in my spare time.

Who or what influenced you to begin writing?
As I mentioned earlier, the first book I wrote was, I am Cancer Free. Because of the success of that book, I continued writing.

You have written 21 books and you keep adding to this number. In what way would you say this has changed your life?
Writing has changed my life because it has taken me in a different direction for which I did not plan.
I used to think Banking was the best occupation, but after leaving banking, a whole new world opened up for me.
I was very successful in Insurance and qualified for the Million Dollar Round Table, the Premier Association for Financial Professionals six times in a row.
I was made a Lifetime member of MDRT.
Since I started writing in 2013, I have won several awards and I still cannot believe that my books were that good.

Please tell our listeners about a typical day of writing for you.
I do my writing late at night when it is very quiet and I can concentrate on what I am writing about.
There is no set routine.

I know you have so many books we would need at least ten shows to talk about all of them. Please tell us about your latest one.
I will tell you about Zeeka Chronicles because that book won many awards.
ZEEKA CHRONICLES: REVENGE OF ZEEKA is a science fiction novel that consists of five spine-chilling stories.
It will Take you on a futuristic Journey into the year 2036.
These highly imaginative tales would keep you spellbound.
It is a story of one man's misuse of science for revenge.
Prepare to hold on to your seats as you will encounter zombies, robots using taekwondo skills, and you may have to dodge high tech weapons and shrinkenators.
Handsome doctors like Dr. Raynor Sharpe and Dr. Steven Sharpe along with beautiful Dr. Janet Jones-Sharpe will take care of you at the Gosh hospital.
Intertwined in the first part of this futuristic tale is a romance about Janet and Raynor which will warm your hearts.
The highlight of the story is the life of the protagonist Dr. Steven Sharpe who was kidnapped as a child.
Zeeka Chronicles: Revenge of Zeeka was an award winner in the Category Young Adult Thriller in Readers Favorite International Awards 2018, winner in Science Fiction in SIBA Awards 2017, winner of the gold award in the category science fiction in Emagazine Readers' Choice Awards 2018, and winner in the top ten finalists for science fiction in the Author Academy Global Awards 2018,.
Here is an extract from a Readers Favorite Review:
"Brenda Mohammed's writing style is evocative of the future and she handles the science in her fiction brilliantly: reading is believing!
I loved Zeeka Chronicles; it has worldwide appeal for anyone looking for an entertaining story that is different.'

Looking at your bio you have compiled a huge amount of awards. Would you please let our listeners know what they are and why you received them?
In November 2018 I won two awards with Readers Favorite International for two of my books, I AM CANCER FREE in the category Health and Fitness and ZEEKA CHRONICLES in the category Young Adult Thriller.
I travelled to Miami to collect those awards.
I won other awards for some of my other books but those are not as popular as Readers Favorite.
The other awards you see on my Bio are Literature awards that I received from the World Nations Writers Union and Motivational Strips.

You also have written poetry and you are an administrator for Motivational Strips. How is writing poetry different for you than writing prose? Which do you like better?
I was not a poetry writer before joining Motivational Strips.
I grew to love poetry after I became a member and read the fantastic contributions from other members.

What are you doing to promote your latest book? Will you be doing any online or in person promotions?
I do all my promotions on Social Media and they have worked well for me.

What was it like to edit a book like Katashi Tales? As an editor, I understand the problems involved with editing another person’s work. How did the distance and the time affect your working on this book?
I was hesitant at first to take on an editing job.
I had never edited another person’s book before.
I could not refuse a man like Shiju H Pallithazheth.
He is very kind-hearted to all the members in his group and the affiliate groups.
When he approached me I agreed immediately.
The distance and time difference of eight hours did not affect our working on the book.
I always wondered if Shiju slept at all.
He was intent on producing the best book that would be read all over the world, and he succeeded.
I am truly grateful that I had a major role to play in getting that book out to the public.
It was a great deal of fun working with Shiju. He made me laugh a lot.

Please let our listeners know where they can find your books.
All my books can be found on Amazon. Here is the Amazon Universal link. CLICK HERE.

Finally, this is a question I ask all of the people here on Tales from the Pages, are you a pantser or a plotter? In other words, do you just write or do you outline before you write?
Barbara, I do an outline, but I never stick to it because my characters start writing their own stories.
Sometimes the whole plot gets thrown out when I write the dialogue, and the story takes a new and exciting turn.
