Can Aidan be trusted or is he truly the prince of darkness?

Darkly romantic and extraordinarily suspenseful, Dream Angel captures the struggle between defying our hearts and quenching our desires.

MY REVIEW - Five Stars

Dream Angel is an intriguing tale of deceit, treachery, murder, and the occult.

Stephanie Ray suffered abuse and neglect all her life. She struggled to put up with her Mom Sara’s bipolar disorder and their sudden, frequent moves to new towns. As Stephanie described it, “it was not a walk in the park.” She claimed that she dreaded Sara’s highs, lows, and manic episodes, and her mother’s roller-coaster stints left her little time for fun stuff. Her only friends were her neighbor, Miss Noel, and Jen, a schoolmate. She and her mother could not speak to each other without getting into an argument each time.
Her attraction to a male student at her school draws her into a diabolical plot by Lords of the Underworld, her discovery about her birth, and DNA.
From then the story took a new and intricate turn.
Jane West did an excellent job of portraying the characters in this novel with her superb descriptions and scenes filled with suspense. The book was a page-turner, with numerous twists and turns, and the tale was gripping. She is another talented writer waiting to be discovered.
I thank Jane West for gifting me a copy of this book.

Five Star Review from a Reviewer

Great little collection that will make you think (especially if you are a travel fan like me!)
By Kato's Revenge on February 21, 2016
Format: Paperback
'The Moral of this story is: Never give up on your dreams. - Author Brenda Mohammed.

With a title like Stories People Love, this book already had a lot to live up to. As I read each of the four short stories in turn, the change from fiction to non-fiction made reading this collection all the more pleasurable.

As a bit of a travel fiend myself, the stand out story for me is Travel Dreams of Yesterday. The author writes this so well that you really feel you are journeying along with her.

Is it a spoiler to say each story is a heart warming one (a reference to one of the author's other works) ?

I don't think so. Each element of the collection's opener, A Headmaster's Daughter, twists and turns and demands that you keep reading.

The Dirtiest of All Evils is intriguing as a murder mystery and seems initially out of place. But reading the stories again, it feels a good fit.

This is a neat and extremely readable collection and shows an author who is able to write fiction and non-fiction elements seamlessly. It's not an easy combination and yet the author pulls it off admirably.

The book is available in Kindle Edition and Paperback at this link. Amazon Universal Link

You can also get it at Create Space and Barnes and Nobles.

The island setting for this zombie story makes it a standout. The author manages to dazzle her readers in a plot that includes Carnival celebrations, a vengeful scientist, and a very unlikely hero. You'll surely get caught up in the rhythm of this story.

A great short... Five stars

Brenda Mohammed has produced a great short story in Revenge of Zeeka. The plot isn't complex but it has been delivered in a way the reader is kept interested as the pages are turned. The plot is driven forward by dialogue which I feel for this length of story is good.

Character detail is good and romance and intrigued are played out in this well written zombie story. Everything is not as it seems and the author keeps you guessing. Among the characters is a detective, Jack Wildy. He is likeable and believable. Hopefully, Mohammed will allow us to meet him again in another story?

Don't trust your eyes in this engaging zombie tale!
By Kato's Revenge on February 27, 2016
Format: Kindle Edition
I like weird stories. Not everything has to be set in a world you know, and perhaps my favourite author, Stephen King is my favourite because he turns the normal into abnormal effortlessly. For author Brenda Mohammed's latest work, we are pulled into the genre of zombie horror, which has seen a massive resurgence in recent years.

What I love about this first short story in the series is how, like King, the author has her characters Mark and Raynor going about their normal lives when eyes really start to play tricks on them, and the question is for us, dear readers, is positioned thus:-

Can we trust what we see with our own eyes, or is this a vision, hallucination, or some other mind trick being played on us by some evil entity?

Possibly the answer is yes to each element of that question.

Rather than being a full blown horror, this first story serves as a tasty morsel (I really shouldn't use such lines in a review about flesh eating zombies!) to what is to come. Who is the mysterious Zeeka? Why does he want revenge? Not everything is answered here, but will be in future stories in the series. At its relatively short length, it is the perfect introduction to this author's writing, which I am seeing a great growth with each work she pens.

My favourite character is actually Detective Jack Wildy. There is so much that cold be done with this charcter, he reminds me of Jack Lord of Hawaii-5-0 (original, people!) fame.

This is an action packed novella that has several plot lines running, but at no time did I feel lost. Each character seamlessly interacted with others, and there's an interesting man hunt happening which will stretch resources of the said Detective to breaking point. Raynor's impending marriage to long-time love Janet might not happen after all.

"It is the perfect introduction to this author's writing."

These different plot lines keep you reading, and keep you guessing. Despite its length I did not read this book in one sitting. I wanted to absorb the cleverly interlinked plot lines. In fact, there's not a lot of the mysterious Zeeka of the title in this first story, and I think that's a clever decision by the author.

Buy it before the next installment is released!

Book Review - Heart- warming Tales

The following is a review of the book from one of my readers.I have omitted her name for obvious reason.

The book is available from Amazon and Create Space in Kindle and paperback.

Three well-written, easy to read, and light-hearted stories coupled with some interesting insights from a late older brother
on June 19, 2014
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
This collection consists of three short stories and a set of letters written to the author by her late elder brother.

The first story, "The Psychiatrist and the Thief" is a story about Dr. Brown who is assaulted by a thief who had
previously kidnapped his secretary. In a story that could have had disastrous consequences, the author skilfully turns around the plot and has the thief apprehended. The theme of this story is: "Crime does not pay." The setting is universal and the events could occur in any business or home.

The two other stories, "Marriage on the Rocks" and "The Undertaker's Wife" both take place in the author's native Trinidad.
The theme of both stories is "Love conquers all." In the first story, the wife, Maria, is discontented when her wealthy husband gambled away all his money and then moves the family from the city to a rural area where he begins farming the land he had inherited from his parents. She leaves her husband and children and goes to the city in search of adventure. When her husband finds her a year later, he is able to forgive her and welcome her back into his life.

In "The Undertaker's Wife", we have a suspicious wife who believes her husband is involved in underhand activity and decides to spy on him. However, she soon discovers that his business is legitimate and that he actually runs a big funeral parlor. The couple reconcile in the end and there is no more suspicion on either part.

These stories are uplifting in that they demonstrate the better part of human nature and show how fulfilling life is when people can forgive one another and live in harmony.

The last portion of this book is non-fiction. These are actual letters written by the author's late elder brother. His letters reveal his personal thoughts and feelings on life. He shares his philosophical and religious views and reveals his own insights.
These letters are a great addition to the collection of short stories since they all deal with human nature. In the stories, the author shows her imagination, creativity, and insight into human character. Reading them helps one restore one's faith in human nature.
