AN ELECTRIFYING SERIES DRIPPING WITH SUSPENSE AND ISLAND FLAVOUR

A TALE THAT DANCES ON THE EDGE OF SCIENCE FICTION MYSTERY AND ISLAND INTRIGUE

Zeeka Chronicles: Revenge of Zeeka is a tale that dances on the edge of science fiction, mystery, and island intrigue. This electrifying series is tantalizing and dripping with suspense and island flavour.

A nightmare unfolds on the sun-kissed shores of Gosh Island, where palm trees sway and steel drums echo. Dr. Steven Sharpe, a brilliant scientist, stands accused of the heinous crime of using his ground-breaking research to create an army of 51 programmable zombies to unleash chaos upon unsuspecting Carnival revellers.

Dr. George Brown was warned that this would happen by a strange person who visited him at the Gosh hospital and called himself Number Nine, but only his false head was found on the stage and it was assumed he was dead.

Detective Jack Wildy has dealt with smugglers, con artists, and the occasional rogue but nothing prepares him for the horror that washes ashore when the zombies strike. Nevertheless, he and his assistant Detective Jerry Cole are determined to unravel the twisted secrets of the vengeful Zeeka.

As the body count rises, Wildy races against time. Detective Jerry Cole, Jack’s partner is as sharp as a barracuda’s tooth, but even he has difficulty to fathom what twisted mind is behind the mayhem.

Zeeka is the elusive puppet master. A name whispered in shadows, a figure who flits between the digital and the human. Zeeka’s grudge runs deep, fuelled by secrets buried in the island’s volcanic soil, but his real name is not known.

Wildy uncovers a web of betrayal, lost love, and scientific hubris. Dr. Steven Sharpe who was kidnapped years ago, holds the key and Wildy must unravel the truth before Zeeka’s revenge consumes them all.

In a race against both time and the tides, Wildy confronts Zeeka who was captured by a beautiful robot after he abandons his flesh-eating zombies. He confesses to the crimes and Dr. Steven Sharpe is no longer a suspect. The police must destroy the zombies before the tropical paradise becomes a graveyard and its sandy beaches are stained with blood.

Zeeka commits suicide in prison.

The island’s heartbeat quickens with a rhythm of fear and hope.

Zeeka appears as a ghost to Steven Sharpe and begs for forgiveness for kidnapping him as a child. He refuses but forgives him after Zeeka saves him and his wife Mandy from dangerous criminals. Zeeka leaves the world in peace.

Number Nine is alive. Mandy's robot helper, Eve, encounters him in the backyard. He collapses in the backyard with an epileptic fit, and Eve alerts the Gosh hospital. Tests and records confirm he is Number Nine, he is not a zombie and is the biological son of Bill Grady – Master Zeeka. He was misdiagnosed with microcephaly at birth. Dr. Raynor Sharpe helps Number Nine choose Nieman Grady as his legal name, and Steven cures him of his brain ailment, Craniosynostosis, with his new invention CrainX.  Steven is the new hero in Gosh as his miracle cures and inventions replace Carnival Tourism with Medical Tourism, and the island regains prominence on the world map.

Review:

An intriguing start of a promising series.
Format: Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is a story about a mad scientist who got really mad.
Brenda Mohammed shows us the first consequences of his madness in this clever story about a virus outbreak leading to an emergence of strange zombie-like people. T
The fast pace and amount of action keep this story thrilling.
At the same time, the author manages to give us a glimpse of the main characters' feelings that do not concern the zombies directly.
We can observe a young doctor planning her marriage and her admirer's disappointment.
This seems to be a plot within the main plot, and it makes this story more complex, the characters easier to relate to, which is not easy to achieve in such a short story that is packed with action.
Yet there is a final twist that reveals to us that personal lives of the main protagonists may be infected by Zeeka's influence more than it seems at first glance.
I can even imagine this book as a good movie.

The island setting for this zombie story makes it a standout. The author manages to dazzle her readers in a plot that includes Carnival celebrations, a vengeful scientist, and a very unlikely hero. You'll surely get caught up in the rhythm of this story.

A great short... Five stars
By Shazzie on March 1, 2016
Format: Kindle Edition
Brenda Mohammed has produced a great short story in Revenge of Zeeka. The plot isn't complex but it has been delivered in a way the reader is kept interested as the pages are turned. The plot is driven forward by dialogue which I feel for this length of story is good.

Character detail is good and romance and intrigued are played out in this well written zombie story. Everything is not as it seems and the author keeps you guessing. Among the characters is a detective, Jack Wildy. He is likeable and believable. Hopefully, Mohammed will allow us to meet him again in another story?

5.0 out of 5 stars
Don't trust your eyes in this engaging zombie tale!
By Kato's Revenge on February 27, 2016
Format: Kindle Edition
I like weird stories. Not everything has to be set in a world you know, and perhaps my favourite author, Stephen King is my favourite because he turns the normal into abnormal effortlessly. For author Brenda Mohammed's latest work, we are pulled into the genre of zombie horror, which has seen a massive resurgence in recent years.

What I love about this first short story in the series is how, like King, the author has her characters Mark and Raynor going about their normal lives when eyes really start to play tricks on them, and the question is for us, dear readers, is positioned thus:-

Can we trust what we see with our own eyes, or is this a vision, hallucination, or some other mind trick being played on us by some evil entity?

Possibly the answer is yes to each element of that question.

Rather than being a full blown horror, this first story serves as a tasty morsel (I really shouldn't use such lines in a review about flesh eating zombies!) to what is to come. Who is the mysterious Zeeka? Why does he want revenge? Not everything is answered here, but will be in future stories in the series. At its relatively short length, it is the perfect introduction to this author's writing, which I am seeing a great growth with each work she pens.

My favourite character is actually Detective Jack Wildy. There is so much that cold be done with this charcter, he reminds me of Jack Lord of Hawaii-5-0 (original, people!) fame.

This is an action packed novella that has several plot lines running, but at no time did I feel lost. Each character seamlessly interacted with others, and there's an interesting man hunt happening which will stretch resources of the said Detective to breaking point. Raynor's impending marriage to long-time love Janet might not happen after all.

"It is the perfect introduction to this author's writing."

These different plot lines keep you reading, and keep you guessing. Despite its length I did not read this book in one sitting. I wanted to absorb the cleverly interlinked plot lines. In fact, there's not a lot of the mysterious Zeeka of the title in this first story, and I think that's a clever decision by the author.

Buy it before the next installment is released!
