For Pet and Dog Lovers - Autobiography of a Homeless Dog.
I wrote a short story "She Cried for Me" after my pet dog died on 17th May 2017. It was a sad day for me and with tears in my eyes, I wrote a short story about her. She was a homeless dog who my husband and I had taken in ten years ago.
It is also standalone.

She Cried for Me Chapter One
“What are you doing here, dog?” he shouted. I cringed as I saw the broom raised in his hand. It came crashing down but I darted away for cover under the steps. He came after me and I lay crouched in the lowest part of the area where he could not get at me. He stooped to glare at me and blurted out, “When I get back home tonight be gone from here. Do you hear me, dog? I cannot afford to buy myself a proper meal, far less feed you. For your own sake leave, or I will kill you.”
I heard from my master those last words. I was scared to death. I was just sitting on the lawn. I was not disturbing him. Why did he hate me? Where would I go? I was born there.
My mother gave birth to my brothers and me under those steps where I lay. My master’s wife who loved us and took care of us passed away one month ago. My mother died of starvation two weeks after my master’s wife died. He gave away my brothers to two of his friends.
I recall that day. His friends came to visit him and they started drinking and behaving raucously. They were also smoking something, which smelt awful.
Late at night, three of them stumbled out of the house. They looked at us as we huddled together on the ground. We were hungry and expected dinner. My master threw some scraps of bread on the ground. They turned to leave.
One of them turned around and asked my master, “My son has been asking for a pet. Can I have that one?” He pointed to my brother. He was better looking than I was. In fact, both my brothers were better looking than I was. I am a girl but I was scrawny looking because I lacked proper care and nutrition.
“You can have all three,” he said. ”My wife loved pets but I have no time for them. To me, they are bloody nuisances.”
“I will take one for my son too,” said the other man. He stood for a while looking at us, glancing from one to the other. I hoped that one of them would take me away and feed me. I started thinking how nice it would be to be the pet of a little boy. It was not to be. In the blink of an eye, they took up my brothers and walked off with them. I was alone. My master looked at me and said, “No one wants you, dog. I am stuck with you.” I felt abandoned. I did not even have a name. He addressed me as ‘dog’ each time.
For days, he did not feed me. Luckily, for me, the little girl next door would throw me a few sausages when she was feeding her dogs. She was very kind, and her dogs came close to the fence to keep my company.
When my master was at home, he would sweep the yard and threaten me with the broom. At times, he would hit me with the broom and I would run off howling in pain. It was becoming unbearable to live there anymore.

It is amazing to see the imaginative mind of the author, Brenda Mohammed, who tells these so true to life tales.
These are indeed stories that people will love to read -some fiction and some truthful.
The Headmaster's Daughter dates back to the 1950';s. This story gives an excellent idea of how life was lived during those days. The strict Headmaster was feared by everyone but love conquered all in the end. Children obeyed their parents no matter what. Education was the goal of many and Paul in spite of having to leave his love behind went ahead to further his studies. That caused great admiration for him and when he returned to ask for Marie's hand in marriage, her father readily agreed. Marie's dream had come true, True love and further education were brought to her door.
This is indeed a remarkable story and should be read by everyone who believes love conquers all and there is always a whispering hope in the air.
Travel Dreams of Yesterday is an exciting, true story of two girls travelling abroad for the first time. This story gives details of all the fun and adventures they had and the many challenges faced and how they were overcome. Their beautiful memories stay with them always.
The author has even included a poem about this first travel abroad.
The Dirtiest of all Evils tells the story of murder, a change from her other stories. It is nail-biting and grips you with fear and anxiety.
Belief in God changed the entire plot.
Read why Mark was set free.

A great little collection that will make you think (especially if you are a travel fan like me!)

'The Moral of this story is never give up on your dreams.' - author Brenda Mohammed.
With a title like Stories People Love,, this book already had a lot to live up to. As I read each of the four short stories in turn, the change from fiction to non-fiction made reading this collection all the more pleasurable.
As a bit of a travel fiend myself, the standout story for me is Travel Dreams of Yesterday. The author writes this so well that you really feel you are journeying along with her.
Is it a spoiler to say each story is a heart warming one (a reference to one of the author's other works)?
I don't think so. Each element of the collection's opener, A Headmaster's Daughter, twists and turns and demands that you keep reading.
The Dirtiest of All Evils is intriguing as a murder mystery and seems initially out of place. But reading the stories again, it feels a good fit.
This is a neat and extremely readable collection and shows an author who is able to write fiction and non-fiction elements seamlessly.
It's not an easy combination and yet the author pulls it off admirably.

My Life as a Banker: A Life Worth Living
Book Description
Fascinating, Intriguing, Inspiring, Positive, Heartwarming, and Motivational Memoir.
My Life as a Banker - A Life worth Living" is a banker's memoir, in which the writer describes changes in the banking system, and changes in the bank's attitude to its employees throughout her working years in a Trinidad bank, with ties in the United Kingdom.
Personal details of this banker's life are the highlights of the memoir.
My Life as a Banker: A Life Worth Living was voted second in Bio/Memoirs in Metamorph's Publishing Summer Indie Book Awards 2016.
My Life as a Banker has received many five-star reviews. These are the top reviews for the book.
"My Life as a Banker" is an autobiographical account of the author's experiences during her career in the bank. She sets the stage by talking about her childhood and family and how her early experiences shaped her outlook on life.
Throughout her working life the author always showed extreme devotion to her job and was constantly rewarded with praise, exciting new opportunities and challenges, as well as job promotions. She was able to succeed in her chosen career through sheer hard work and determination accompanied by her natural intelligence. Her achievements were always recognized by her superiors and she was rightfully rewarded. She started out as a bank clerk and eventually rose through the ranks assuming various managerial positions.
The author attributes her success to her faith and belief in God. She would pray for wisdom and guidance every time she faced a challenging situation. Whenever she had a problem, she prayed about it and the problem was miraculously solved. She continually speaks of the influence of God in her life and in the life of her family. The strength of her faith helped her to overcome any diversities that entered her life.
This book is important in its portrayal of life in the author's native country, Trinidad, in the latter part of the twentieth century.
It records some historical events through which the author lived. One such event is the takeover of the government by Muslimeens in 1990 and the scare throughout the country. Other significant events are the changes in the banking system and the bank's attitude to its employees throughout the years. In addition, the book shows how a young, determined girl just out of high school was able to have a highly successful career in the area of her choice and live a fulfilling life.
The book describes not only the author's work, but the fabulous vacations she was able to enjoy during her vacation time.
Her vacations always left her refreshed and ready to face new challenges.
Overall, the author views her life in a positive sense and is appreciative of the wonderful times and good luck she has experienced throughout her career. She is grateful for all the good that has occurred in her life and is thankful to God.
The book is written in a clear and easy to read style and can be enjoyed by people of all ages."
Inspiring and eminently interesting story
Bymarmalizeron June 26, 2016
Format: Paperback
For those of us who are not in the banking industry, and for me, especially living in a country where the capital is the financial hub of the country (perhaps the world) you might think a story called My Life As A Banker would be too dry to enjoy.
Author Brenda Mohammed has written quite a few books across different genres. This book is a relatively quick read but readers can be taken along her life's journey as they turn the pages.
I found myself more interested in the 'Life Worth Living' elements of the book. I congratulate her hard work which allowed her to work in the banking industry and get promoted. But I was more interested in the personal side of things, for example how she met her husband (that's an excellent segment of the book) and also attaining her strict father's support for the marriage.
The author's approach to writing this memoir is direct and therefore one imagines this is how she would speak in real life. But the tale is told with such verve and energy, it is an enjoyable book that people will find much to like.
The real life stories contained within are things we can all relate to. Things such as ending up in a great city like Toronto, but being sick at the time and told 'you shouldn't go out then'. But this is not the author's approach to life. If you have read her Travel Memoir With Pictures, you will understand what an accomplished traveller this lady is.
There's some surprisingly gory scenes in the book, tempered by some poignant sadness around certain family members, as well as the central theme of how the author made her living in the banking sector.
It's an interesting and very readable memoir from one of the more creative authors out there.

EDITOR'S NOTE
"This Story, 'Resurrection: Revenge of Zeeka Book 5' is the final episode in the Zeeka stories written by Mrs. Brenda Mohammed. The Book is based on the return of someone who people thought was a "Zombie." It makes for interesting and inspiring reading. Once you start reading, you have to continue to the end. The author's imagination is extremely wide and vivid and she really gives you an exciting glimpse of what the future could possibly turn out to be- with beautiful robots for housekeepers, companions, and security, and a device to cure diseases of the brain without any surgical incisions. What a great future we can envisage in this story!!!
This proves to be a wonderful ending to a trilogy of stories. It was great to know that Nieman, his new name, was cured of his disease.
Every Chapter of the Book is well- written with use of entertaininglanguage and I congratulate the author on her brilliance and her psychic lookinto the future."
If you have not read the other books in the series, I urge you to do so now.
