Review:

An intriguing start of a promising series.
Format: Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is a story about a mad scientist who got really mad.
Brenda Mohammed shows us the first consequences of his madness in this clever story about a virus outbreak leading to an emergence of strange zombie-like people. T
The fast pace and amount of action keep this story thrilling.
At the same time, the author manages to give us a glimpse of the main characters' feelings that do not concern the zombies directly.
We can observe a young doctor planning her marriage and her admirer's disappointment.
This seems to be a plot within the main plot, and it makes this story more complex, the characters easier to relate to, which is not easy to achieve in such a short story that is packed with action.
Yet there is a final twist that reveals to us that personal lives of the main protagonists may be infected by Zeeka's influence more than it seems at first glance.
I can even imagine this book as a good movie.

The Series – Zeeka Chronicles [ Revenge of Zeeka] - Science Fiction/Horror

A Police officer named Bill Grady met and fell in love with the daughter of a renowned doctor at a Carnival event. She was a registered nurse at the same hospital in which her father worked. Her name was Margaret.
They dated a while and when he proposed marriage to her, she agreed to marry him. He bought her an engagement ring, but her father disapproved of their relationship. He wanted her to marry a doctor. Not wishing to displease her father, she broke off the relationship with the police officer.
Bill was extremely hurt, even to the point of great bitterness. He tried to win back her love but without his knowledge, she married another – a doctor who worked in the hospital with her, Dr. Carl Sharpe.
When he found out she had jilted him, something inside of him tripped off. He was never again the same person that he was. He vowed to take revenge one day.
Seven years passed and Margaret bore two sons for her husband – Steven and Raynor. Bill always felt that her first son Steven was his child. He planned to kidnap him.
One fateful day Steven, who was just seven years old, was riding his bike home after visiting a friend who lived in a secluded part of the city. His bike broke down, and he was trying to fix it. A police jeep stopped, and the police officer asked if he could help.
There was no one else in the vehicle.
Steven saw no harm in allowing a police officer to help since they are there to protect and serve. Or, so he thought. The police officer came out of the vehicle, looked at his bike, turned it over and tried to repair it. He then said that it needed to go to a bicycle shop. He offered to drive Steven home. Steven accepted the lift and never saw his home again.
Bill Grady threatened the boy to kill his parents and brother if he ever tried to escape from him. He boasted about his police connections and Steven was fearful of him and did whatever he asked. Bill could not legally adopt him and changed the boy’s name to Jason Stephens.
It was Bill Grady;s intention to use the boy to exact the revenge he planned

"Revenge of Zeeka, by Brenda Mohammed, is a one of a kind novella trilogy that delivers an incredible story guaranteed to give readers an absolute sci-fi treat. I especially liked how Brenda used current events as the pivotal point from which to build this amazing sci-fi horror. This made the story even more relatable. She captured with an amazing depth the setting, characters, plot, and emotions in such few words."

My Inspiration for Writing Fiction

I started writing and publishing my books in the year 2013.
I wrote seven memoirs and two books of short stories, which were fiction. I tried my hand at Fiction because of something that my brother said to me in one of his letters prior to his death.
He wrote in reference to my book, ‘A Life Worth Living,”

“Your book makes very pleasant reading, and your literary expression is superb and easy to follow. You have an excellent talent, and I think you should follow up on a leisurely basis with perhaps publishing a book of short stories. With fiction, you will have greater opportunity to use your imagination and your undoubted descriptive ability. You used the word “fantasize” to create a situation. This is an outstanding quality, which you should continue to use because it is imagination, which disposes of everything, coming from within. It creates beauty, justice, and happiness, which are everything in this world.”

I took my brother’s advice in the year 2014 and wrote, ‘Heart-Warming Tales,’ and ‘Stories People Love.’ Both books got five-star reviews from a few people but I still felt that I needed to write some more exciting stories.

In 2015, I stopped writing altogether. I was even thinking of giving up writing completely. However, in January 2016, one of my Facebook Author friends invited me to an event. I had lots of fun with other authors at that event. The next day an author messaged me and asked me about my books, and what was I writing at that time. I told him that I had stopped writing and did not intend to write anymore. He told me that I should not stop writing and maybe I just had writer’s block. He was very encouraging, and that night I thought it over.
The next day an idea came to me after reading the newspapers about the spread of the zika virus. That was the day the Zeeka science fiction series were born.

Writing those books is no indication of my insensitivity to people who contracted or may contract that disease. My works are pure fiction in a world that does not exist.
There is a bit of romance in the stories, but nothing steamy.

In May 2016, I combined the first three books in the series,
Zeeka and the Zombies [ Feb 2016], Zeeka’s Child [ March 2016], and Zeeka Returns [April 2016] into one book, Revenge of Zeeka: Horror Trilogy.

Revenge of Zeeka;Horror Trilogy received a five-star review and five-star seal from Readers Favorite International in September 2016.
That gave me more encouragement to keep on writing fiction.

The fourth book, Zeeka’s Ghost was released on 9th October 2016 and has received two five-star reviews to date.

All five books were published in the year 2016.
The books are not long and are quick reads. I am working on the 5th book in the series at the moment, but I have not yet named it.
All books are available at Amazon

Who is Zeeka's Child is the burning question

ZEEKA'S CHILD: REVENGE OF ZEEKA BOOK 2

Five Star Review By Katerina Sestakova Novotna

5.0 out of 5.0 stars

This is an interesting science fiction story about zombies who were created with the help of modern science. They differ from traditional zombies in many aspects. They are controlled by their mysterious master Zeeka through sophisticated technology. Many of them do not even eat human flesh, but that trait alone does not make them harmless.
The core of this book in the series focuses on a relatively fresh couple, Janet and Raynor. Janet finds out she is pregnant with the man she had been engaged to before Raynor. He is not just an ordinary ex, but someone whom they both see as a mad scientist. Yet the child in her womb is not the only reminder of her past. There is also a necklace her former lover gave to Janet, which contains more secrets than it seems at first glance. It’s a fascinating tale of kidnap, arson and a lot of other action. There are many shocking twists, but the main one revolves around the question who Zeeka’s child is.
The second book answers many questions the first book left us with, but it also poses many new questions. That’s why i am already looking forward to reading the third book.
I read this book in one sitting since it’s difficult to put down once one starts to read it. The story itself is quite complex for such a short book. There are not many authors who can say so much without wasting a single word. Brenda Mohammed excels in this respect.

In the year 2016, the Zika virus broke out in Central and South America with life-threatening effects for pregnant women. Given a choice to save the mothers or the unborn babies, a decision was made to save the mothers. The tiny stillborns were securely and secretly buried. Only a few people knew of this. Only three of the current doctors at Central Hospital - Raynor, Mark, and George - witnessed the unfortunate events of 2016. Review of Zeeka Returns (Revenge of Zeeka Book 3)

5.0 out of 5 starsA gloriously gory end to the Zeeka legend.

ByKato's Revenge on April 24, 2016

Format: Kindle Edition

Zeeka Returns is the pleasing third installment in the Zeeka and the Zombies series. What I have observed through reading each tale in sequence is a significant level up in terms of writing style and character development. That is no easy task in a short story format, and given Zeeka Returns is the longest of the three, it should be noted that it is still a short story. One wonders how our antagonist from book one is going to prevail - or not, as the case may be.
Perhaps it is a testament to the author that her main characters are not necessarily the most important ones for me. Book two introduced us to cop duo Wildy and Cole, and their dynamic worked well in Zeeka's Child, it is far better and more realised here. I enjoyed these two and would read on if they were to appear in another series.

The island of Gosh, once such a pleasant idyllic place to live, is now little short of a terror zone, where the threat of a zombie attack has the residents looking like they are going about their normal business, but in truth, they are not - they are scared, and rightly so.

Away from the police manhunt (zombie hunt?) Steve, Raynor and other friends reminisce about old times with hopes that there will be new times ahead for them to enjoy.

Perhaps the best innovation for the story - and befitting one set in the not too distant future, is the very welcome introduction of robot Miranda. Oh I'm sure by 2036 we'll all have one in our homes, but I like this design far better than Paulie's Bot in Rocky IV (1985 seems a very long time ago when I revisit that film). She's introduced as a home help but this is just one layer to her character design, and it's a joy to see her develop.

Ultimately, Zeeka Returns answers the considerable set up given to us in books one and two. Will the now not so mysterious Zeeka pay for his crimes? Will he come willingly, and what will happen to the rogue group of zombies now free to unleash carnage on the island? That's the main question to be answered and readers won't be disappointed with the story's end.

The key characters remain strong with the secondary ones providing functional support to the narrative whilst not overloading the story with
an unnecessary plot diversion. If anything, Zeeka's Return is the tightest of the books in terms of script, so readers won't lose the thread of the story even if they put it down for a while.
However, I would still recommend reading the books in sequence. It's a pleasing, diverting tale that uncovers more subtle layers with successive re-reads.
Nicely done.'

The Zeeka virus, zombies, and robots

5.0 out of 5 stars

'This is a mini trilogy by author Brenda Mohammed. Different niches apply, from sci-fi to romance, from mystery to horror. The editing is top notch, and the language is fit for younger audiences too. Book 1 sets the scene & the intrigue, while books 2 & 3 expand upon it with action and even more intrigue. The reading flow is great as well. Brenda Mohammed had a sheer moment of brilliance when she decided to build her plot around the Zeeka virus. Creative reason at its best.'

Another Review:

The single stories are available in Kindle edition, but the Horror Trilogy is available in both Kindle and Paperback.
The first story Revenge of Zeeka : Zeeka and the Zombies is Permafree on Amazon.
The idea to write this book stemmed from the prevalence of the zika virus in South America and the surrounding islands.
Reviewers picked up on this and I was pleased that they made the connection.
It was my first try at writing a horror series and the reviews were very good.
The Trilogy was nominated for the Metamorph's Publishing Summer Indie Awards 2016 and I felt honoured.
I have selected some of the outstanding five-star reviews so readers can get a clear picture of what the Trilogy is about.
