Guess what i just got in the mail - Brenda Mohammed's book I am Cancer Free
Let me tell you about this book. The book was short and is a great read.
If you are battling cancer or know someone who is, this is a fantastic book to read.
Brenda tells her journey of going through cancer and surviving, and not only surviving but also coming out cancer free.
One of the things that stood out for me in this book is that I am NOT going through cancer, nor do I have anyone in my family who
have, so there are certain preconceived notions I have about what cancer treatment is like, and how it should be addressed by the people around them. So this book really takes you step-by-step.

You understand what the treatments are like. You understand how the body reacts and gives you great ideas on how you can go ahead and help somebody who's in that situation. There were things that I learned from this book - like to call the person, ask if they want to go shopping,
take them a meal, or take them out to eat things that I would be thinking they're too tired or too sick to do. By reading this book I realize those are great things to do.
This was really a fantastic read.
You're going to enjoy it.
Like I said it's short so it's not something that someone who is going through the cancer treatment wouldn't have the ability to read.
It is very short and simple to the point of encouraging.
It's got all the glory.
I think you're going to love it so check out I am Cancer Free by Brenda Mohammed.
Go check it on Amazon today or you can check out her website at the link below.

I AM CANCER FREE was the Winner of Mc Grath House Indie Book Awards 2016.

A Brilliant Review of Your Time is Now: A Time to be born and a Time to die.

J.B. Richards's review Nov 16, 2016
it was amazing
Read from November 13 to 14, 2016

'A Time to Read: A Beautiful and Soulful Tale about Trust and Belief in the Lord!
Having herself experienced a lifetime of tragedy and joy, Author Brenda Mohammed assumes the mantle of theologian/philosopher in her quest to understand and explain the elegance and meaning found in the biblical verses extolled in Ecclesiastes 3.
In "Your TIME is NOW: A Time to be Born and a Time to Die", Mohammed fully examines each memorable and precious verse and applies them to her own life experiences.
In doing so, she takes the reader on a journey through a lifetime filled with trials and tribulations, despair and hope, loss and success.
The author eloquently defines Ecclesiastes 3, pointing out that, by freely accepting God's will, she has been amply blessed with a faithful family, loyal mentors, good friends, and a full life.
She successfully leaves her readers with a message of hope and inspiration by sharing her belief that, through introspection and prayer, one may find meaning within the events of their own everyday experiences.
She appears to be a firm proponent to the old adage, "When days seem at their darkest, surrendering and trusting in the divine will ensure peace and prosperity".
All in all, I found this book to be quite engaging.
The author's reflections on her childhood were beyond charming in some spots, yet brought me to tears in others.
Her candidness about her relationships with parents, siblings, husband, and her own children reminded me so much of my own family's saga, and I must admit that I was thrilled to find a read that tugged at my heartstrings the way this book did! For any individual seeking solace and meaning in today's hectic world.
"Your TIME is NOW: A Time to be Born and a Time to Die" is a beautiful and soulful read. Thank you, Brenda Mohammed, for sharing your journey with me!'

Thank you, Author JB Richards

I picked up this book, as my father has been diagnosed with stage four cancer. I wanted to read this from the perspective of someone who has been there, so that I could better support him.

What I will say is that everyone should read this book. We are all touched by this horrible and untimely disease, and reading the author's story helped me understand a little more how my father might be feeling. Whilst I know he will never be cancer free - I wanted to understand more.

It's emotional, heartfelt, honest and transparent. The author has told the story with true authenticity.

Highly highly recommended!

Thoughtful and detailed account of defeating the most terrible of diseases
By Kato's Revenge on May 21, 2016
Format: Kindle Edition
I am Cancer Free is an extremely positive title for something that is so terrifying to pretty much all of us, were we to be diagnosed with it.

No illness is pleasant, but surely cancer is one of the very worst, and although survival rates are increasing all the time depending on the type of cancer concerned, it is good to know that the author, who thankfully defeated this terrible disease, overcome it in order to pen this extremely good read.

From a carefree life, visiting friends and relatives, through to the initial concerns and then onto the diagnosis, the author takes us on a journey in this book. But potential readers shouldn't be put off by the subject matter. The author has bravely chosen to share her experience with the reader. It is never negative, although some of it is very harrowing to read.

The description of the subsequent and very necessary operation which resulted in the author regaining her full health is a case of just enough information. There's no need for gory details and we don't get them. In essence, the author has the balance right between info-dumping and info-giving.

Again, it's a book that educates and informs.

Thank goodness for medical insurance. In the UK, we are fortunate that the NHS provides many life saving treatments. I do hope the government (s) wake up and spend money on research to defeat this terrible disease in all its forms.

Well done to the author on the beating of this disease and in the creation of this book.

Remarkably detailed, and poignant description of the author's experiences as she was diagnosed and treated for ovarian cancer.
By Arabella Persaud on June 19, 2014
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
This true story should be read by every person who has been diagnosed with or who has ever suffered from cancer. Their loved ones will also benefit from reading this autobiographical account. The author has an impressive memory for details and gives an excellent account of everything that she went through during that trying period from her diagnosis to the successful treatment of the disease. She narrates, in depth, all her experiences during her treatment, including her personal feelings, her understandable fears, and even financial matters. Displaying an exceptionally lucid memory, she remembers every single person who supported her during that time period and every single little detail including the hurricane that struck Miami after her second chemotherapy session and the inconveniences incurred with regard to electricity in the house and gas for the car. She also remembers in detail every restaurant in which she ate in Miami and everyone who visited her. Her memory of every important date is extremely remarkable.

During all the upheavals, the author never lost her faith in God. Her undaunting faith upheld her and comforted her during this dark period of her life. Her story clearly demonstrates that faith in God surmounts all obstacles.

The book makes easy ready and the style is almost conversational. One gets the feeling that the author is speaking directly to the reader. It is an intensely personal narration and I recommend this book highly.

Could Retirement be Fun?

TOP REVIEWS

A well-written chronicle of the author's experiences and adventures since her retirement from a long career in the bank
By Arabella Persaud on August 26, 2014
Five stars
Format: Paperback
This inspiring book tells of the many adventures experienced by the author after retiring from a banking career at a youthful age.
She talks about her new career in the insurance business and narrates, with meticulous detail, the many wonderful experiences
in her new life including the birth of her grandchildren, her meeting of new friends, her travels abroad, and her continued enjoyment of life. For her, life certainly did not stop at retirement.

Throughout the book, the author demonstrates a positive outlook on everything that happens in her life. Not only did she endure wonderful experiences, but she also had a bout with cancer and a terrible accident in Miami. She interprets these negative events in a positive light by using them to show how her faith helped her to overcome these obstacles.

The author's appreciation of life is evident as she treasures every moment with her family and the time she shares with them.

As in her previous books, the author once again exhibits a remarkable memory for details as she provides a meticulous description of all her activities since retirement. The style is simple and readable.

The book shows that life certainly does not end when one retires.
Life continues and one must live with a positive and determined spirit to continue experiencing the joy of life
and to discover one's hidden talents.

I enjoyed the positive spirit shown by the author in this book. She demonstrates that it is one's attitude that counts towards one's enjoyment of life.

This book is recommended for all retirees or persons contemplating retirement.

My Inspiration for Writing Fiction

I started writing and publishing my books in the year 2013.
I wrote seven memoirs and two books of short stories, which were fiction. I tried my hand at Fiction because of something that my brother said to me in one of his letters prior to his death.
He wrote in reference to my book, ‘A Life Worth Living,”

“Your book makes very pleasant reading, and your literary expression is superb and easy to follow. You have an excellent talent, and I think you should follow up on a leisurely basis with perhaps publishing a book of short stories. With fiction, you will have greater opportunity to use your imagination and your undoubted descriptive ability. You used the word “fantasize” to create a situation. This is an outstanding quality, which you should continue to use because it is imagination, which disposes of everything, coming from within. It creates beauty, justice, and happiness, which are everything in this world.”

I took my brother’s advice in the year 2014 and wrote, ‘Heart-Warming Tales,’ and ‘Stories People Love.’ Both books got five-star reviews from a few people but I still felt that I needed to write some more exciting stories.

In 2015, I stopped writing altogether. I was even thinking of giving up writing completely. However, in January 2016, one of my Facebook Author friends invited me to an event. I had lots of fun with other authors at that event. The next day an author messaged me and asked me about my books, and what was I writing at that time. I told him that I had stopped writing and did not intend to write anymore. He told me that I should not stop writing and maybe I just had writer’s block. He was very encouraging, and that night I thought it over.
The next day an idea came to me after reading the newspapers about the spread of the zika virus. That was the day the Zeeka science fiction series were born.

Writing those books is no indication of my insensitivity to people who contracted or may contract that disease. My works are pure fiction in a world that does not exist.
There is a bit of romance in the stories, but nothing steamy.

In May 2016, I combined the first three books in the series,
Zeeka and the Zombies [ Feb 2016], Zeeka’s Child [ March 2016], and Zeeka Returns [April 2016] into one book, Revenge of Zeeka: Horror Trilogy.

Revenge of Zeeka;Horror Trilogy received a five-star review and five-star seal from Readers Favorite International in September 2016.
That gave me more encouragement to keep on writing fiction.

The fourth book, Zeeka’s Ghost was released on 9th October 2016 and has received two five-star reviews to date.

All five books were published in the year 2016.
The books are not long and are quick reads. I am working on the 5th book in the series at the moment, but I have not yet named it.

Who is Zeeka's Child is the burning question

ZEEKA'S CHILD: REVENGE OF ZEEKA BOOK 2

Five Star Review By Katerina Sestakova Novotna

5.0 out of 5.0 stars

This is an interesting science fiction story about zombies who were created with the help of modern science. They differ from traditional zombies in many aspects. They are controlled by their mysterious master Zeeka through sophisticated technology. Many of them do not even eat human flesh, but that trait alone does not make them harmless.
The core of this book in the series focuses on a relatively fresh couple, Janet and Raynor. Janet finds out she is pregnant with the man she had been engaged to before Raynor. He is not just an ordinary ex, but someone whom they both see as a mad scientist. Yet the child in her womb is not the only reminder of her past. There is also a necklace her former lover gave to Janet, which contains more secrets than it seems at first glance. It’s a fascinating tale of kidnap, arson and a lot of other action. There are many shocking twists, but the main one revolves around the question who Zeeka’s child is.
The second book answers many questions the first book left us with, but it also poses many new questions. That’s why i am already looking forward to reading the third book.
I read this book in one sitting since it’s difficult to put down once one starts to read it. The story itself is quite complex for such a short book. There are not many authors who can say so much without wasting a single word. Brenda Mohammed excels in this respect.

In Revenge of Zeeka: Horror Trilogy by Brenda Mohammed, the island of Gosh is under attack by an army of zombies under the command of a vengeful science genius. In the year 2016, the Zika virus broke out in Central and South America with life-threatening effects for pregnant women. Given a choice to save the mothers or the unborn babies, a decision was made to save the mothers. The tiny stillborns were securely and secretly buried. Only a few people knew of this. Unknown to everyone, however, a certain scientist managed to get hold of all 51 bodies, bring them back to life, and condition them to follow his command, creating himself a perfect army of zombies. Now, twenty years later, the evil scientist seeks revenge on those he holds responsible for the stillbirths. Only three of the current doctors at Central Hospital - Raynor, Mark, and George - witnessed the unfortunate events of 2016. The three have strong suspicions about who might be controlling the zombies. Meanwhile, Zeeka is lying in wait for the perfect time to unleash his army onto the island. Zeeka has big, evil plans and this is just the beginning. In a desperate search for answers, and with very little to go on, the doctors search for the elusive Master Zeeka. Will they save the islanders from Zeeka and his zombies, or will it be too late?

Revenge of Zeeka, by Brenda Mohammed, is a one of a kind novella trilogy that delivers an incredible story guaranteed to give readers an absolute sci-fi treat. I especially liked how Brenda used current events as the pivotal point from which to build this amazing sci-fi horror. This made the story even more relatable. More importantly, however, I admired how she owned her story and created this captivating version of events. She captured with amazing depth the setting, characters, plot, and emotions in such few words. If you are looking for a thrilling short read, this fast-paced, sci-fi action novella will give you the time of your life.

Revenge of Zeeka by Brenda Mohammed is a one of a kind novella trilogy that delivers an incredible story guaranteed to give readers an absolute sci-fi treat.

An intriguing start of a promising series.

This is a story about a mad scientist who got really mad. We do not learn about him and his motives much in this book since it’s just the first part of the series. Yet Brenda Mohammed shows us the first consequences of his madness in this clever story about a virus outbreak leading to an emergence of strange zombie-like people. The fast pace and amount of action keeps this story thrilling. At the same time, the author manages to give us a glimpse of the main characters’ feelings that do not concern the zombies directly. We can observe a young doctor planning her marriage and her admirer’s disappointment. This seems to be a plot within the main plot, and it makes this story more complex, the characters easier to relate to, which is not easy to achieve in such a short story that is packed with action. Yet there is a final twist that reveals to us that personal lives of the main protagonists may be infected by Zeeka’s influence more than it seems at first glance.
This book leaves many questions unanswered and makes me look forward to reading the sequels. I can even imagine this book as a good movie.

Review of Zeeka Returns (Revenge of Zeeka Book 3)

5.0 out of 5 starsA gloriously gory end to the Zeeka legend.

ByKato's Revenge on April 24, 2016

Format: Kindle Edition

Zeeka Returns is the pleasing third installment in the Zeeka and the Zombies series. What I have observed through reading each tale in sequence is a significant level up in terms of writing style and character development. That is no easy task in a short story format, and given Zeeka Returns is the longest of the three, it should be noted that it is still a short story. One wonders how our antagonist from book one is going to prevail - or not, as the case may be.
Perhaps it is a testament to the author that her main characters are not necessarily the most important ones for me. Book two introduced us to cop duo Wildy and Cole, and their dynamic worked well in Zeeka's Child, it is far better and more realised here. I enjoyed these two and would read on if they were to appear in another series.

The island of Gosh, once such a pleasant idyllic place to live, is now little short of a terror zone, where the threat of a zombie attack has the residents looking like they are going about their normal business, but in truth, they are not - they are scared, and rightly so.

Away from the police manhunt (zombie hunt?) Steve, Raynor and other friends reminisce about old times with hopes that there will be new times ahead for them to enjoy.

Perhaps the best innovation for the story - and befitting one set in the not too distant future, is the very welcome introduction of robot Miranda. Oh I'm sure by 2036 we'll all have one in our homes, but I like this design far better than Paulie's Bot in Rocky IV (1985 seems a very long time ago when I revisit that film). She's introduced as a home help but this is just one layer to her character design, and it's a joy to see her develop.

Ultimately, Zeeka Returns answers the considerable set up given to us in books one and two. Will the now not so mysterious Zeeka pay for his crimes? Will he come willingly, and what will happen to the rogue group of zombies now free to unleash carnage on the island? That's the main question to be answered and readers won't be disappointed with the story's end.

The key characters remain strong with the secondary ones providing functional support to the narrative whilst not overloading the story with
an unnecessary plot diversion. If anything, Zeeka's Return is the tightest of the books in terms of script, so readers won't lose the thread of the story even if they put it down for a while.
However, I would still recommend reading the books in sequence. It's a pleasing, diverting tale that uncovers more subtle layers with successive re-reads.
Nicely done.'

The single stories are available in Kindle edition, but the Horror Trilogy is available in both Kindle and Paperback.
The first story Revenge of Zeeka : Zeeka and the Zombies is Permafree on Amazon.
The idea to write this book stemmed from the prevalence of the zika virus in South America and the surrounding islands.
Reviewers picked up on this and I was pleased that they made the connection.
It was my first try at writing a horror series and the reviews were very good.

WHY I WROTE MEMOIRS

When I retired from the Bank at an early age, I was depressed.
Everyone in my family noticed that in the weeks leading up to my retirement my demeanour had changed. I had ceased to be jovial and fun loving. My husband and my sisters did their best to brighten up my days. I managed to force a smile or a giggle to appease them, but no one realized that I was feeling as if I had come to the end of my life.

I went through the motions at the grand retirement party, which the bank staff hosted at a popular restaurant in South Trinidad. Customers and staff were present.
The ambience was enchanting, and the speeches were great.

Superiors, colleagues, customers, and staff showered me with praises and gifts. Their words brought tears to my eyes. However, all I could think about was, “What lies ahead for me?”

Fortunately, for me, my husband had planned a trip for both of us to attend a friend’s wedding in Virginia in the USA. We left the morning after the retirement party. All during the flight, I kept remembering the words of the many who spoke at the party. It all seemed like a dream.
When we arrived in Virginia, I felt relaxed. Virginia is remarkably beautiful. We had so much fun over the next three weeks that I forgot all about the bank.

We returned home after a glorious vacation. I gave away all of my working clothes as I felt that I no longer needed them. I decided to dabble in art. Out of nowhere, my talent for art surfaced and I painted several pieces, which I framed and hung in my library.
I applied for other jobs and received positive responses from many firms. I accepted a job in an Insurance Company, and of course had to buy a new wardrobe of clothes. Since I did not have to work full time, I needed something else to keep me busy.
It was then that I decided to write ‘My Life as a Banker: A Life worth Living.”

The book has been very popular with fellow bankers in Trinidad. I revised the book in 2014, published it on Amazon and Create Space, and donated copies to the National Library of Trinidad and Tobago, and my Alma Mater St. Augustine Girls’ High School.

Later on, I was having so much fun as a retiree, that I wrote, ‘Retirement is Fun: A New Chapter.’
Notwithstanding my bout with Cancer in 2005 and a terrible car accident, while vacationing in Miami in 2011, retirement has indeed been fun.

My recovery from cancer inspired me to write another memoir, “I am Cancer Free.”

My career in the Insurance Industry was also successful. I qualified each year for membership in The Million Dollar Round Table [The Premier Association for Financial Professionals], and this gave me many opportunities to travel to different parts of the United States to attend the MDRT conferences. My frequent travels worldwide prompted me to write another memoir, ‘Travel Memoirs with Pictures.’

I was inspired to write yet another memoir - 'Your Time is Now : A Time to be born and a Time to die.' I had a driving force within me to write this one. The book explains it all.

Last, but not least, is my father's memoirs. I wrote that book a number of years after the death of my father. He was an educator and his story is very motivational. I gathered information from notes and diaries he kept and I put the book together. Past and present Presidents of Trinidad and Tobago have requested copies for their libraries.

Both My Life as a Banker: A Life worth Living and Retirement is Fun: A New Chapter were nominated in the Category Bio/Memoirs for Metamorph Publishing Summer Indie Book Awards 2016. The preliminary results show that My Life as a Banker: A Life worth Living placed second in that category.
I want to take this opportunity to thank all my Facebook friends, family, former banking colleagues, and friends in Author groups, who all voted for my books.

Books are available at Amazon, Barnes and Nobles and Create Space.

"This memoir’s style of writing gives the impression that the author is candidly speaking to the reader about her past – her struggles and achievements, the good and the bad. The author’s life was anything but boring, and I reckon her retirement will be just as interesting. Throughout her journeys and challenges, religion was very important to her. Even though I’m an atheist, I very much respect her point of view and beliefs. Her life’s tale is an inspiring read, to men and women alike. And the book ends on a beautiful note of optimism.

Delightful and refreshing children's stories told from the point of view of a teddy bear, June 25, 2014
By Arabella Persaud
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Adventures of Squeaky Doo (Paperback)
This collection consists of five stories narrated in the first person by Squeaky Doo, a teddy bear owned by a little girl named Marge. Marge lives with her younger brother and parents in Miami. However, except for the first story which takes place on a beach in Miami, all the other stories are set in different locations. The tales describe adventures in Los Angeles, Orlando, on a cruise trip, and in the author's native island, Trinidad. Squeaky Doo accompanies Marge as her family, including her grandparents, vacation in these different places. He gets lost in each story and, fortunately for him, is always rescued and reunited with Marge.

Squeaky Doo is an observant bear who never misses any detail of the family's activities. He gives vivid descriptions of a warm and loving family of which he is proud to be a part. Children will surely fall in love with this likable teddy bear and will want to read about all of his adventures. The perspective of the teddy bear makes the stories easy to read and will encourage youngsters of all ages to keep reading to find out what will happen next to Squeaky Doo.

Available at Amazon in Kindle and Paperback.

My fans at Barnes and Nobles are giving my books raving reviews.

Memoirs of Dr. Andrew Moonir Khan - A Great Educator in Trinidad and Tobago

Memoirs of Dr. Andrew Moonir Khan - A Great Educator in Trinidad and Tobago is a historical memoir. Since it has been published, it has been on the bookshelves of past and present Presidents in Trinidad and Tobago. The book reviews speak for themselves. It is the biography of one man's journey in the field of Education when Education was not considered a priority in Trinidad and Tobago. It was indeed a struggle for young Andrew but he overcame all obstacles and reached the highest pinnacle of his career. His story is both motivational and inspiring.

The following are the top reviews:

5.0 out of 5 starsGenuinely Interesting and useful
on March 31, 2016
Format: Paperback
There is a need for books like this one- books which document the struggle of the first generations of immigrants and their children to carve a place in their society , and then provide the foundation for the next generation to achieve even greater success. In broad terms, this is general knowledge. What is valuable in this book is the step by step description detailing the road- map by which one successful educator did so. What is also appreciated is the incidental description of day to day life in pre-independence Trinidad. Congratulations - post- humous though they have to be- to Dr. Khan for the foresight in documenting his memoirs for the benefit of those who -generations later - are curious about the journey. Congratulations also to the biographer -his daughter -Brenda - for identifying the need for these memoirs to be published - and to receive a wider audience than just his family, as well as undertaking the task of bringing the book into being. I would recommend this book for its insights into the secret of success and its transmission to later generations.

5.0 out of 5 starsNational hero
By C.H on March 3, 2015
Format: Paperback
The memoirs of Dr. Andrew Moonir Khan presented by his daughter, author, Brenda Mohammed, records the life story of Dr. Khan as told by himself in the memoirs he so graciously bequeathed to all of us who knew and loved him.
This reviewer has had a teacher-pupil relationship with Dr. Khan and has benefitted tremendously from the exposure to high standards in the educational and spiritual atmosphere he provided.
The memoirs tell the story of a man burnt by the vicissitudes of life, challenging and bitter times, yet has emerged renewed, reinvigorated, refined and restored- a life exemplary in every way.
The autobiography is a true reflection of the author's love for and belief in truth, his high standards of etiquette and his pursuit of model writing skills in English Language.
The simple, comprehensive, yet sophisticated presentation leaves the reader fascinated and curious to know more of a life that offers much to be emulated.
The physical and emotional traumas shared in the book bring deep feelings of sympathy and empathy. Overcoming early childhood bad experiences through divine intervention strengthens the reader's faith in God. The travails of a teacher aspiring to ascend the ladder of progress met with misplaced opposition inspires dignified patience.
The unreserved and unconditional dedication to family life inspires noble parenting. The zest "to follow knowledge like a singing star beyond the reach of human thought" inspires a passionate mind.
To live the life that God expects us to live, as the author's work demonstrates, inspires discipline and devotion. Nothing less is expected, as the book in its lifelike and meaningful way depicts the story of "a great man, a true exemplar, a national hero."

5.0 out of 5 starsA glimpse into the life of Trinidad in the early twentieth century ensconced in the autobiography of a great educator
By Arabella Persaud on January 28, 2015
Format: Kindle Edition
This book is a fascinating account of the life and career of Dr. Andrew Moonir Khan as he advances from teacher to Headmaster, to Inspector of schools and later Senior inspector of schools before his retirement in 1965 at the required age of 60.
The book is put together by one of his daughters, Brenda, who serves as narrator. The story is actually told in the first person, in Dr. Khan's own words, as he relates his experiences throughout his life and career in the island of Trinidad.
Born to parents who emigrated from India in the late nineteenth century, Dr. Khan describes his simple yet idyllic childhood in the countryside.
He loved nature and enjoyed a closeness with his parents. The era in which he grew up was one of zero technology. There was no electricity or any modern day conveniences in those days. However, his childhood was happy and he fondly remembers the stories told to him by his mother.
Dr. Khan recalls his first adventures in school and his natural abilities. However, he was unable to attend school for four years at one stage because of an unexplained illness for which his mother eventually found a cure. He finally was able to return to school and excelled in his studies. Dr. Khan eventually started working under the pupil-teacher system in Trinidad and rose through the ranks very quickly.
In this book, we see the difficulties of operating a school in a society that did not value education. It was the teacher's responsibility to collect children and take them to school. As a young teacher, Dr. Khan had to awake early to collect the boys and girls of the village to take them to school. This was not an easy task. However, it was necessary for him to keep his job. With hard work and sheer determination,
Dr. Khan's career advanced at a rapid rate.

Dr. Khan's rise from humble beginnings to a successful educator is inspiring. The advances in his career are amazing. His family life is interesting. His words of wisdom are everlasting and should be adopted by the younger generation. The world- view portrayed in the book is fascinating. The book documents the changes in Trinidad from a colonial nation to an independent country in 1962. The progress throughout the country during the period of Dr. Khan's life is evident in the change of his living conditions.

Dr. Khan remains humble and acknowledges that his success could not have come from himself alone. He praises his wife, his family, and his constant faith in God. After his retirement, he achieved what he had always dreamed of. He wrote and submitted a thesis to the Florida State Christian University and was granted a Ph.D. degree in Education. He also spent most of his time working on numerous committees at the Marabella Presbyterian Church and the Synod. Not only was he a tireless educator, but he was a firm believer in God and in doing what was right and just. He kept on contributing to society all he could until his death in 1975.

Everyone can benefit from reading this autobiography and seeing how one simple man's extraordinary faith, struggle, and determination allowed him to achieve more than he had ever thought possible. The book clearly shows us that success is attainable for anyone who is willing to reach for it. I recommend this book highly

.5.0 out of 5 stars True story told with pure intentions and true feelings

A true story told with pure intentions and deep feelings. It's simplicity and well-scripted chapters grow into each other methodically and freely. The reader is impelled to move on with ease and comfort. There is a pervasive humility in each incident which truly reflects the author's character and personality. Her pride in her heritage and family ties touches deep into the soul and absorbs the attention of the reader. Personal circumstances told, reflect her openness to inform and tutor at the same time, what one can derive from challenges unexpected if rooted in the trust one places in God.
The author's implicit belief in divine intervention summarizes her message. I have enjoyed, I have been touched and have had my personal convictions reiterated in this most interesting and soul searching book. I recommend it to all especially to you who in times when the clouds grow dark- the silver linings emerge to remind us of a light emerging on the other side. This is the author's story.

By Arabella Persaud on June 22, 2014

Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
In her characteristic easy to read style, the author provides an insightful interpretation of the 8 verses of Ecclesiastes that were used in the famous song by the Byrds. Drawing on personal experiences, an astounding knowledge of the Bible, general observances and reflections on life, the author examines these verses and presents her interpretation in as clear and understandable a manner as possible. She narrates several stories from her own life to illustrate each verse and shows how her faith helps her to overcome many obstacles and to live a successful and happy life.
This is an inspiring book which clearly shows that when one applies the principles of the Bible to real life, one can get marvelous results. It is an uplifting book and should be read by anyone who wants to restore his or her faith in God or in life in general.
